I've often wondered if this is a conspiracy to keep the chocolate for the humans! First off, unless it's a pretty small dog and it ate a LOT of VERY chocolate cupcakes, it'll probably be just fine. Fido might feel really tired, or end up vomiting - which would be good actually. However, have had dogs for many, many years, all of whom have eaten chocolate at some time or another - iincluding one that grabbed and ate an entire box of chocolate donuts once, I haven't come across a single dog yet -ncluding those of friends and acquaintances, that has died from eating chocolate. Most don't seem to even have serious reactions!

I have a dog, on Halloween my sister left all the candy in the floor including many chocolates, I had also heard that chocolates where fatal for dogs, but my dog only threw up once, and a year later... hes alive and well. Also, during this time elapse, he has been eating chocolate occasionally, I GUARANTEE your dog will be fine. he might have a little stomachache, but nothing serious.

The poisonous substance in chocolate for dogs are Caffeine, and Tannins.

Small amounts probably won't hurt. Larger amounts can be deadly. Watch the dog carefully for the next 12 hours. If strange behavior starts, call the vet.

yes chocolate is fatal but if it was just icing don't worry the dog isnt going to die from that. He might throw-up and have an upset stomach. It takes more of that type of chocolate to be fatal. It is baking chocolate you have to worry about. It takes less of that to kill a dog.

It depends on the type of chocolate. My dog lived until 15 years eating a little bit of milk chocolate once in a while. I know that baker's chocolate is lethal for dogs.

It really depends on how much the dog ate. My dog ate my Hershey kisses and yes i thought he was going to die so i called the vet and he said not to worry if he is not vomiting blood or having loose stool with blood in it. But it could lead to diabetes if he continue to eat it.

Yes, depending on how much the dogs weighs and how much chocolate they eat! Keep an eye on the dog and watch for signs of diarrhea, vomiting and lethargy. If you notice that, take him/her to the vet immeidately. I wish you luck.

i think your dog will have a bit of a tummy ache and i say this because a few years ago when i was living at home, our min. poodle got into my brothers valentines chocolate...ate all of it...ahe was fine. a year or so later she found caramel cadbury eggs and because i guess she was upset that we left her home , she at a few of those... she is about 9 yrs old now and still acts like a puppy.... chocolate isnt good for them but it didnt kill her....
