This is something that you should try to find someone to sit down with you about, but here's my quick version: I was a chemistry major, and I use none of my undergrad information right now. The classes that would have been useful are immunology, anatomy, physiology, and cell biology. I also had a rough first semester, but as long as your grades steadily (and preferrably quickly) increase and you do well on the MCAT, you'll be fine. All of the schools love a good "most improved student" story.

A lot of med. schools accept applicants to make their stats look high. (For instance, the average GPA and the MCAT scores).
Try your best in school and get a decent GPA, but it's not everything. I recommend that you take some MCAT prep courses available at The Princeton Review or Kaplan to help yourself prepare for the MCAT. Usually, if you get above a 30 on the MCAT, you can get into a med. school (it may not be an ideal one, but at least it's a med. school).
