yes, bb guns are usually pneumatic or c02 powered and shoot at much higher fps than airsoft ones, which can use spring or gas power

airsoft guns will usually use plastic bbs and generally not pierce skin

bb guns use metal bbs and can pierce skin

In general, BB guns are more powerful. However, some of the very high powered airsoft guns are more powerful than the old BB guns, like the Red Ryder.

BB's are usually spring powered, or Co2 powered or pump. (air)
Airsoft are Co2, spring, or battery. (electric)
Don't get bb's and pellets confused, most if not all people do.
BB's are steel balls, pellets are lead. Most pellet guns produce
alot more power than bb guns. Pellet guns are powered by
Co2, (cartridge, bulk) Spring, pump (air) and compressed air (pcp, the most powerful of all air guns)
