My male cat just loves to sit on my lap when i'm sitting or on my chest while lay'en in bed & lick my clothing till it soaked! I think it's endearing....yucky, but cute,...... Any answers why he does this?

Congratulations... your cat has given you the highest form of acceptance and regard by GROOMING you. Oh, I need to tell you that in Cat Society, the one doing the grooming is the ALPHA. So... you're cat is just letting you know that you can count on him as the pack leader.

One of my girls who is about the same age sucks on a certain blanket all of the time. She really purrs and kneads at it at the same time.
One theory that I like is that cats who do that were often weaned too young. (Which could make sense for my girl since she is a shelter cat.) They knead their mother when suckling, so they are going back to this comforting time.
But others say it's a habit just like human ones. Either way, it means he likes you!

Yes, he's grooming you as a sign of respect and love. Just make sure there isnt any harmful substances or anything on your clothes that will harm kitty, then it'll be fine :) Sounds like you have a sweet, loving kitty there!

He is probably grooming you. It is what a cat finds comforting and shows his love for you. He may even be doing some suckling too, was he weened early?
My cat licks my feet, now thats gross :> )
probably the salt cause they dont smell lol.
