The Manx shearwater -- a far-flying gull-like seabird -- was probably born in 1952 and is thought to have clocked up about five million miles in the air.

-First ringed by ornithologists in 1957, the bird's journeys were made while migrating between Britain and South America.

It was re-discovered on April 4 this year in a colony of several thousand others on Bardsey, an island off the Lleyn peninsula in north Wales.

and another one is U.S. Geological Survey scientist Chandler Robbins has documented a new record for the oldest living North American bird in the wild. By tracking his records of banded birds, he found that a Laysan albatross on Midway Atoll is least 51 years old, breaking the previous longevity record of 42 years, five months, held by a bird of the same species.

Birds live for varying lenghs of time. I have friends that have amazons that are over 90 yrs old african greys can also live this long macaws also depending on how well they are kept. They rarely live this long in the wild though. SO if yo are considering buying one of these please remember you will have to have someone you can leave the bird to in your will as it will probably outlive you. As for which bird lives the longest i have heard that rooks are probably the longest living bird with reports of some over 150 yrs old.

as far as I know, yes. But there's a catch. Parrots live a very long time in captivity. However, in the wild, birds like swans and the ostritch can live up to thirty years. Depends on the situation:)
