It all depends on your tolerance: gender, age, weight, height and metabolism. I can drink 20 beers and not pass out. Of course that's not 20 in a straight row, that would be 20 over the course of 2-3 hours when I'm at parties. So mixed in there is me drinking water, vodka and dancing, so it's not like the alcohol is just sitting there. And that includes beers like Budweiser, Henikein or Guinness (my three faves). You have to take into account that beers and drinks at the bars are much stronger than what you'll be drinking at home. We have a .08 limit, who has abreathalizer with them to test that? If you have one then you are good..but if you don't, then you'd never really know if you were over the limit or not until you get pulled over. Any amount of alcohol can impare your judgement, so if you get pulled over even after having four beers, you could get arrested and have your licence taken away. Don't try to figure it out...don't risk it, take a taxi.

An Australian cricket player got thru 52 cans of beer flying between Australia and London, still a record.
I have only gotten thru 14 cans flying from Sydney to LA. Only one can per hour.

Used to live in New Zealand, their beer is weak as water, 4% used to get thru 12 X 750 ml bottles in a session.

never been arrested so I guess I still have not drunk enough.

Obviously I did NOT drive while a tad wobbly. And yes drinking too much is stupid and does some harm to ones health etc etc

Don't bother with beer, it's a ******* drink!! Get on the hard stuff, the spirits. Beer, WHY? It's so weak that if you put a light to it the stuff would put it out there's so little alcohol in it!!! Just drink liquidised excrement, looks the same but the excrement will have more effect. But to answer the question, about 700ml of Scotch has me feeling pretty pissed, and time to stop, thats the same alcohol as 14pints of beer.

Well that depends. You can get arrested for drunk driving or for being drunk and disorderly.

To be arrested for drunk driving, you have to be legally intoxicated while driving. In most (if not all) states in the US, you are considered legally intoxicated when you have a 0.08 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC).
An inexact way to figure out what your blood alcohol content is is by a formula of sorts.
12 ounces of beer (a can), a shot of alcohol (varies depending on the alcohol's proof), or a glass of wine can increase your BAC by approximately 0.03 percent.
But here's the tricky part. An average person's body can process approximately 0.03 percent of alcohol from their bloodstream per hour. This varies from person to person according to a person's body weight, gender (no offense ladies, but it's because men have more water per pound), and body fat percentage.
If you get pulled over and blow 0.08 or higher into a breathalyzer, you're probably going to get a DUI and go to jail. So the trick is keeping under 0.08.
Under this formula, if you pound 3 beers (0.03 x 3 = 0.09 BAC) and wait an hour (0.09 BAC - 0.03 hour = 0.06 BAC), you should be fine. But if your body processes alcohol slower than the average person, have a lower water weight than the average person, or you've been slamming back some strong Canadian or German imports or shots of Bacardi 151, you're in deep **** if you get behind the wheel, not to mention that you could mow some poor bugger down.
Also, you might still be impaired even if you aren't legally drunk if you are particularly susceptible to alcohol.

To be arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct, usually you have to be drunk in a public place while displaying drunk or disorderly behavior. Some states might vary as to their requirements for that, but I think that's the general rule for it.

Hope it helps you stay out of the slammer.

This varies from person to person. The following variables have to be considered:
-Body weight (given the same amount of alcohol, a heavier person will have a lower BAC than a skinnier person)
-Tolerance (if you are accustomed to drinking, you will act less "drunk" than a person who is not used to this--and therefore will be less likely to attract the attention of a "handcuff technician".)
-Number of police on duty in the area where you choose to get inebriated (this is just common statistics)

Luckily I'm a quiet happy drunk so there's no end to my limet, a few years back a rather attractive female police officer used to pick me up at closing time from my local and give me a lift home how cool is that?

2 pints is adequate for anyone. I am glad I don't drink. People go on about smokers, but look at the amount of people who has died from drinking alcohol, like someone I know died from drinking aged 38. Look what drinking causes. (People being killed, divorces, violence, etc.) And people can come on here bragging how much they can drink. Disgusting.

well I can drink around 2..2.5 bottles of wine (around 13..14%), so thats going to be around 8..10 pints of normal beer

however I cant drink that much of Robinsons Old Tm... I have a real problem if I attempt to drink more than 2 pints of that stuff... its real looney juice
