it's the cave man thing over and over again.
secretly they do know that women are smarter and they just can't accept that so they try to be in control and act like they know everything.
my theory is just laugh it off and understand why they do this. i mean come on, what else can you do but feel sorry for them. those poor confused creatures,

Negative, I'm not sure, I don't think all men are negative. Controlling: 1) emotional decisions are never good decisions... that's why the statistics for women's infidelity is higher than men(the women/websites who argue with this use old statistics) and that's why divorce rates are so high. Not happy, get a divorce or find another person. It used to be... paint the house different colors all the time, rearrange the furniture every other week, get 10 new pair of shoes, get new curtains every week, ... now it's get another man or a divorce.
theory 2: men are more sportful than women, in general(on average, not all the time). Sport is what men live for.
theory 3: only the men you date are negative and controlling.

It is something that both men, and yes, women, can be guilty of. I don't think you can categorize men as being the only ones that contribute to this.
It really comes down to a person's level of self-confidence and self-esteem. People who feel that they have a healthy level of control over thier own lives and are happy, do not feel a need to control others. Also, happy people do not feel a need to be negative. They can be happy about other peoples gains, and not feel a need to criticize or compensate for thier own personal misfortune. They are not in "competition" with others. They don't need to control others.
Sounds like you need to spend your time with a different caliber of man.

Because they're men. Competitiveness and the need for control are hardwired into their genes. It's best to just ignore them completely and take control of your own life.

well men are socialized that way..that's why a lot of them want to look like meat heads they want to be intimidating and respected. But you can't blame it all on them b/c in a relationship you are the one that allows yourself to be controlled. Don't put up with it

sweetie, all men dont do that, when you get older you will learn that alot of women do the same thing too. its up to you to decide whether you will be controlled or not.

Because woman never really tell us what they really want, so we just assume you want us to take control. If we don't take control nothing gets done. (in some cases)

i was about to pose the same question about the fairer sex. funny, i guess it's all your perspective. did we ever think that maybe we feel that way and we are mad that there is opposition? a disagreement in philosophy does not mean we have to fight. wish women thought like me.
