sit ups will help you tone and tighten your abs. however, you need to do an aerobic exercise (running, swimming, cycling etc.) to efficiently lose weight. plus diet is 80% of weight loss for most people. if you incorporate light weight lifting (circuit training) it will help you lose weight faster than just aerobic exercises alone.

many women are finding yoga to be a very effective weight loss exercise.

Sit ups only strengthen your abs. Therefore, when you step on a scale you might see that there are more pounds than less. The reason being is because muscle weighs more than fat. So if you do ab excersises you are just getting stronger abs and just have fat over it. To lose the fat i suggest running. Running takes the fat off of everywhere. And plus, it keeps your heart healthy and happy!

What kind of weight are you trying to lose? If its weight off your shoulders or chest then you shouldn't "sit up" thinking about it, you should just go to sleep and travel light.

Doing situps you wont lose pounds but you will lose inches. You can always do situps during commercials while watching television.

situps will strenten your stomach musles. but you can take a walk around the block like i do
