I live alone in a hud housing complex. They do not allow dogs or cats as pets. I have missed numerous and various doctor's appointments because I cannot drive alone. I have no one to ride with me or take me to these appointments. I am so panic stricken that I also have heart palpations and fear another heart attack if I leave my house alone. I live in a small rural area with just my disability check.
Can anyone help?
Thank You,
Sandy P.

I want to clarify this, a service dog to help you stay calm while driving to appointments, etc. Is this right? I would start by talking to local animal shelters. The people there should be able to help you get a trained dog. If not, they have tests that you can bring your housepet to in order to obtain certification as a therapy dog. My sister in law did this as she is a social worker and takes her dog to work for the clients there. In this case, see if your landlord will allow you to have a therapy dog and get one from the shelter. They will have a ton of dogs to rescue, I recommend getting one from a shelter that does euthanize so that you save a life.

Many doctors will give you a note stating that you require a service dog. You may try calling your doctor and requesting a note if you're concerned about having a panic attack on the way to the doctor's office.

I'm sure you could find a suitable dog at a local shelter to help you.

I hope you find what you're looking for!

If you are in goverment subsidised houseing they may not allow serive dogs for panic attacks.
They would for blind and things like that but panic attacks most likely not.
We had a women in our rescue group who got her doctor to write her a prescription for a dog and she ended up having to mve and it was a huge mess. She had all sorts of legal problems from tyring to have a "service dog" for this type of disorder.
