Cute XMAS gifts my preschoolers can make?

Question

Im just getting back into education after taking a few yrs off, and am drawing a blank on something nice my preschoolers can make for their parents for Christmas. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..:)

u shouldnt tell them that, dont get them so far into religioun, some ppl dont celebrate christmas.
tell them to make a card/letter decorated
but dont say it's for christmas tell them it's just a present

Yea any nice ornament should do. Especially if it has a picture of the child and the date. Have you seen those reindeer ornaments that you can make from clothespins? Those are real cute. Is there a way to use a kitchen? They can help make and decorate a plate of Christmas treats. You might need a couple of adult helpers or even maybe some older children(if your facility is inside of a grade school). Decorate a coffee mug. Take a class picture, and make frames with Popsicle sticks. If any of these things are too costly, you can ask parents to send in five dollars for a school project that they are doing.

Some fun and easy things you could do:
Have their parents send some pictures of the family. Use construction paper, glue and glitter. Get the children to make a special book by choosing the colors and pics they want to include. If you have the extra money, or donated items of holiday stickers, ribbon include them for the pages and front of the book.
I think it would make a lovely and more personal gift for whomever it is given to.
Another thing to do, is get some posterboard (small in various colors), pics from old mags of christmas things...ie: candy canes, winter scenes and so on. Either they can cut them out with safety scissors, or parent volunteers can. Have the children make a collage of all their faves by pasting them wherever they want to on the posterboard. Then let them add a bit of glitter and/or stickers and ribbons.

One of my favorite gifts that my son brought home was a Christmas Tree Decoration.

Smash coke cans flat and spray paint them gold. Punch a hole near the top and put a gold ribbon through it and tie it. (To hang on the tree) Get a school picture or take a polaroid of the students. Paste the picture on the gold ornament and then let the kids decorate the ornament, etc. Made a really cute Christmas gift for mom! I still have mine!

Any of the ornament ideas suggested are fun. We did paper cut out in the shape of snowflakes that the kids painted. Then we put the child's picture on it.

I've also done picture snow globes. With baby food jars, baby oil or water, and glitter, you can make really neat looking snow globes. We sealed little plastic picture frames inside the jars on the lids, so they were inside the snow globe. It's simple enough for the kids to put together (filling the jar, posing for the picture, etc.) and makes a really cute decoration.

I have a pre-school, and this year we made 3 gifts. 2 for the tree, very easy, take a wooden pinch clothes pin, run a bead of hot glue down the front of it and have the children pre pick a christmas foamy piece and glue it on, pinch it to the tree. the second one, the kids picked out an ornament shape and we transfered it to a foam sheet and cut it out, the kids decorated it with glue and glitter, punch a hole into it add a ribbon and hang, real simple and they look so pretty. Now for one that doesn't hang, we cut out a star shape onto heavy cardboard and had the kids paint it with the color of their choice, then take a small pinecone and have them paint that with elmers glue, sprinkled glitter all over it glued a small star to the top and glued the whole thing to the cardboard. you can put their name and date on the bottom of the star.... they all turned out beautiful and they had a lot of fun doing them.. Something we do every year in our preschool is a keepsake scrapbook like card for the parents and they LOVE IT! It is easy enough but very cute.

We have the kids color a cute picture that says "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" for the cover.

Then we have a page with their picture on it. "This is a picture of me telling you Merry Christmas!" Most the time they are holding a sign that says "Merry Christmas, 2006!" At the bottom of this page it says, When this picture was taken I weighed about _____ lbs and was about ______ inches tall. Obviously we weigh them and measure how tall they are.

Then we do handprints and footprints 2 pages. "THis is how big my hands (feet) are" We paint their hands and feet.

Then we do their name. "This is how I write my name." We let them write their name unassisted.

Then we have another page for another project. "This is the picture I made just for you." I do something different here every year. This year we did Holiday Rubbings on this page.

At the bottom it says, "Merry CHristmas! Love," I let them write their name here. I have Christmas 2006 on the footer of every page.

We bind it together like a keepsake book. The parents love it. I sat down one year with a group of parents whose children were older. These are the things we said we wish we had for our children at this age.

In my location, I don't have any problems with the religious aspect of saying Christmas. But this could be for any occasion. Our 2 year old class is doing this book this year. They are having just as much fun with it as the preschoolers do.

We also do the photo ornaments. The hand and foot reindeer. The hands are the antler and the foot is the head. We have done hand and foot angels too. The hands are the wings. The foot is the body.

they can do handprints in paint on plates. Oh..once with my two year old class, we made angels. What I did was just cut paper plates in the shape of an angel...it's pretty easy. Then I got some gold star stickers, glue sticks and gold glitter. They turned out very cute!

Doing their own picture frames are good. They can choose a picture from home, they like or at school w/a digital camera take pictures and print out. I did something similar for my parents in kinder or 1st grade. we covered it w/soft fabric as a frame it looked nice. My mom still has the pic
