Alot of times I talk to my sister on the phone. About all she ever wants to talk about is what she's either getting for her home or she already has for her home. I would much rather be healthy for the rest of my life than have material things.Another thing, you can't take it with you when your gone. Most people don't stop and think about this.

People are materialistic. God created everyone to be a worshipper. Loving possesions is worshipping the materialistic items of today. People look at materialistic items as a way to make them happy. Items will only supply a minimum amount of happiness, thus making everyone want more things so they will be happy. They won't end up happy when they die anyways. They can't take their earthly possesions with them to heaven or hell. Real happiness comes from knowing Jesus Christ as your personal sacrifice. Being a Christian will result in true happiness: not being tortured for all eternity in hell. Christians will recieve the best gift ever, eternal happiness in heaven.
For a Christian, life on this earth is the worst life they will ever have.
For a non-believer, life on this earth is the best life they will ever have.
People always seek happiness, and always will. True happiness comes from the Bible, God, and Jesus.
You should now know why the richest of people are always unhappy: earthly goods cannot satisfy desires for happiness.
The happiest people are always the ones who aren't very rich, but have enough to provide for their family. They also have unfortunate mishaps, but they always find something good out of it.
I know a guy named Nick. He is always happy, smiling, and thankful for what he has. He can't walk, yet he finds true happiness from God, not by earthly possesions.

Now-a-days a lot of people are bought up by child care centres then school. They don't see a lot of their parents. As well people move around so much that children often don't have the advantage of relationships with their extended families. Hence don't learn to relate at a family level.
Also there's a culture of having to have new things right now - not saving for them - too much use of credit! People have always felt pressure to "keep up with the Joneses".
So people are too focused on always having the best/newest model of everything. This becomes something to brag about.
Your sister may be becoming like that or she may just have difficulty relating on a more personal level.
Are you able to go & see her - maybe that would help her focus on more personal family things.

Maybe your sister feels the same way and she's just sharing.

My sisters and I talk about all kinds of things and that includes things we're getting for the house or things we're doing to the house.

That doesn't mean that's all we care about because otherwise we wouldn't enjoy each other so much.

Give your sister a break and stop judging her.

Sounds to me that she does'nt have love for her self because she is so worried about having all the nice things that money can buy and impressing people with it or she likes rubbing peoples nose in things she has that they don't witch is selfish and mean, you on the other hand sound like a caring person witch makes you better off than her so you are the more fortunate one.

Your right. Materialism is what the world has shown us. Peers on TV to Political. So we are surrounded by all the material wants. Its sad sometimes. Peace.

I totally understand. My sister-in-law is the same way. All she can ever think about is how and when she can go shopping and get new things.

ok, let's get some solutions from those who don't have the IQ of a three-12 months-old. nicely, the biggest values will be issues alongside with appreciate, good morals/ ideas, believe, duty, and kindness. regrettably, it truly is complicated to say what the "maximum significant one" is, when you consider that they're all needed.
