gave my superviosr more details because he asked me :"Precisely what health problems were you having - you seemed fine yesterday"
My supervisor was questionning the validity of my day's sick leave. I told him I was having a particularly bad period.

So I told him that I was having bad cramps and he looked like I

was lying so I began to tell him that when I stood up from my seat on the bus I had left a large red stain mark and that even though I was wearing super super plus press-on towels the blood was streaming down my legs...so I thought abut the office furniture and turned back and went home. .
Ironically he went bright red himself - hopefully he got the picture. But why the embarrassment - surely he must know that women mensurate?

FAO Arch - Wow what a wonder woman! Give me your address and I'll mail you my used sanitary towels so that you can see how heavy my flow can get.

Maybe he didn't stop to think that some of us don't just menstruate, we hemorrhage!

People (men AND women) who don't have really crappy cycles don't know how awful it is. I have a cousin whose flow is so heavy that she literally faints. We don't have to exaggerate our symptoms!! And sounds like you don't, either!!

I really don't understand why men have such a hard time dealing with periods..

Obviously they don't understand because they don't have one, but can't they just realize hey its a part of every woman's life and not be so disgusted/grossed out by it?

If it were something they had to go through I wouldn't react the way most men do twds them!!!
I would understand.

My boyfriend is actually okay with it now and not so freaked out by it.

But I know many men who get sickened by even someone saying the word tampon... why is that???

men do not want to know about these things. Yes, they know it happens, no they do not want to see it...........they are taught that anything that bleeds for seven days and doesn't die is just not right. I guess we haven't gotten that far in sharing what happens with the female body. Some things are better left a mystery. It should always be a get off free card. But go to the doctor, that just doesn't seem right.

Your supervisor probably thinks you're a fool.

Mensuration is the measurement of lengths and angles in geometry.

I've never known anyone take a day off work with Geometry...

I suspect he simply embarrassed for asking a question that had a valid answer and required him to know more about your specific body functions than he was predicting.

I wouldnt want to know the specifics on vomitting in the case of food poisoning, y'know?

In either case, I think it was rude of him to ask further questions to what was originally a valid answer. Serves him right to get more than he wanted, ha ha!

Elfreda , check your spelling :
1) menstruation
2) whore, ( pronounced ' hoare ' )
Men do not have a problem regarding menstruation, though some women seem to think they have.
As for using it as an excuse for not going to work, I would guess your boss would based his enquiry on your past attendance record, and women have been known to exaggerate their 'curse'.

your employer is purposely attempting to embaress you. He doesnt have the right to ask you in that detail to justify yourself. Get a lawyer and sue him for harassment and going out of his way to HUMILIATE YOU. Im telling you, get a lawyer and get the money you deserve from asshole slike this. It was BEYOND wrong.

Surely you mean MENSTRUATION.

Mensuration is the art of taking measurements.

I have no problem with it. I remember one girl I was dating started bleeding on my bed. She was really embarrassed, but I didn't see it as a big deal at all.

First off it is "menstruation" and "menstruate" and second off, I think the graphic details are what made him blush. I think you could have explained that it was "your time of the month" and it was rather excessive and you felt it best to stay home, rather than risk an accident.

I think it was your choice of wording that was the issue.
