I AM PLANNING TO HAVE MY BABY SHOWER IN FEBUARY AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE BOYFRIEND THERE WITH ME AND HE WANTS TO BE THERE AS WELL, SO I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUN TO JUST MAKE IT IN TO A CO ED SHOWER SO HE IS NOT THE ONLY GUY THERE. MY MOM ON THE OTHER HAND THINKS IT'S A BAD IDEA AND DOESN'T THINK ANY GUYS WILL COME ESPECIALY SINCE THERE IS NO ALCOHOL ALOWED DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY BOYFRIEND IS IN AA. I THINK IF THEY DON'T COME BECAUSE OF THAT THEN THEY JUST ARE NOT GOOD FRIENDS. ANY ADVICE?

Well, I had a coed baby shower and I'm a single mom...I didn't have a man there at my side, but my male family memebers still came. Also, my sister's baby shower was coed. It's fun that way if you get the men involved. Don't worry about alcohol...baby showers usually don't do stuff like that anyway. And just try to have games that men can participate in...like guessing how big around you are with toilet paper, etc. Some men are VERY nice in that sense (2 squares?).

You shouldn't worry about what your mom says. Sounds like she is doing what she wants. I don't mean that in a demeaning way towards her...my mom was like that too so I can relate. The only thing to keep in mind is doing what YOU want. Most people only have one baby shower...so make it YOURS!!! Trust me...it's the best way!

My husband and I had a co-ed wedding shower and then a co-ed baby shower. Most of the other husbands/boyfriends came, as well as my brother who traveled 3 hours. We also had no alcohol just because it wasn't an "alcohol event." Have a co-ed, have boy-food, and make sure there is a TV they can gather around as a herd should they feel the need for male bonding.

I threw a Co-ed baby shower for my best friend and all of our guy friends came.....no alcohol was involved! I just did games that the guys would be interested in and would not find too girly. We had a blast and the guys had a great time as well. You do what you want to do..Why is it such a tradition that the Father of baby never attends anyway? I say go for it and have a great time!! Congrats on the baby!

I have been to several coed baby showers, they were fun , and they did not have any alcohol at them. How about you just invite who you want to YOUR baby shower and let your mother get over it. No offense, but if your boyfriend is in AA then you have a right to support him in that. You could if you wanted...put on the invites that there is no alcohol at the party. If they are true friends, they will come if there is alcohol or not. Or you could just let them know and not put it in the invite. Stand up for what you believe in.

I think a co-ed shower is a great idea. It's wonderful that dad's are much more involved these days.

Why don't you have 2? Let your mom throw you the traditional "girly" shower including your family and close friends. Then have you own, co-ed shower with your male/female friends. You can even have your boyfriend plan the co-ed shower to make it more unique!

I had a co-ed baby shower, after all just because the woman is the one carrying the baby, the man helped produce the child. I didn't think it was right not to include my husband on every part of bringing our children into the world! We didn't serve any alcohol, after all you can't have any alcohol anyway being prego and all. Congrats and I hope that helps!

It is your baby shower!! You should be able to have whatever kind of shower you want! You're right... If people wont come because there is no alchohol, they are not good friends anyways.
