My bf lets his parents decide who he's with!?

I have been with my bf for 2 yrs, hes 23 and im 19. things were great up until the weekend when he went home to c his parents. he came back and suddenly its over! He says his parents weren't happy cause im not a big talker (which i have never been) and they think its rude! also he wanted to go overseas with me for a few months and now suddenly its a year and he wants to go by himself! i know he doesn't want it to be this way, i can tell by the look on his face when i see him and the fact that he cries too. He told me a big part of him doesn't want to let me go and that it feels wrong yet when i ask if this is what he really wants he just says 'its how it has to be'

We are kind of in the same situation. It sucks because I see a future, but his parents are so hateful and want to run his life! I keep telling my boyfriend to stand up for his right to be happy. His parents should be raising and teaching him how to be a self-sufficient adult, so he can make his OWN decisions and be happy! They should be there to support him, but they need to respect his wishes. I would suggest just having a serious talk with your boyfriend-- he owes ou this much. And, he still cares about you if he gets emotional about this, so don't have second thoughts about ANY of this. You need to think about yourself and what makes you happy, just like he needs to think about himself. Hopefully he'll realize that it's you, and he's LUCKY to have the chance to have you.
