because there was a time when they were the young boy taking a girl out on a date. i think that is what makes them that way and because he loves you. GOD BLESS YOU.

Dad's are not overly protective. They simply are protective since it's a father's instict to love therefore protect his whole family. At this day and age, no one can be too careful. You may not be aware but the person that can do you the worst harm could be the person who knows you well enough to hurt you. On the other hand, he could have done some funny stuff when he was in his dating stage and is scared that you go through the same ordeal as was his date years ago.....:)

Take it from a 39 yrld man with 2 daughters and a step daughter it's not over protective, it truly is love that you're father has for you. He is only looking out for his baby girl and no matter what you say or how old you get you will always be his baby girl. Always remember that's it's mommies boy and daddies little girl, besides remember, He was a young man once himself, he knows what goes thru a teen age boys mind, believe that to be the GOD'S honest truth. Good Luck and try not to be so hard on the old guy, after all it's all about the love.

Your dad was a young guy once - dating girls like you. He knows just what your date is wanting cause he was once that guy. And why would he want 'his little girl' to go out with that guy?? LOL - Try to be patient - it all comes from love. And, wouldn't you rather have a Dad that cares than doesn't?? Hey, I'm 30 and my dad is still over-protective. It never stops, so just accept it.

Because he is a man and knows how guys think. He was young once and now he has a daughter of his own you he doesnt want some guy to use you or hurt you. You should be glad that you have a dad who is protective he is letting you know he loves you and wants to keep you safe as far as over protective as long as you are a good kid and they have your trust give him time he might not be so over bearing.

be happy you have a dad that is over protective some fathers in society could care less sounds to me you have a perfect father whats with this protective act? and why do you care so much would you rather have a father that doesn't care enough about you to let you make your wrong choices and not be there to pick up the piece's? i say thumbs up to all protective fathers .

he isn't being over protective he is just trying to keep you away from bad and wants you to do something with your life

what would you rather have a dad like yours who sounds like a good dad just protects you too much because he loves and cares you or a dad who goes out gets drunk comes home and hit your mom and even worse you?

Most dad's are hippocrites...if they were your age they would probably be out trying to have sex with the girl which is what he is trying to prevent. If you got pregnant it would put a twist in things plus he doesn't want you having sex anyway. On the slight chance that he is a good guy and didn't do that at your age then he should try to set you up on some kind of courting thing.

My dad was the same when I started dating! Come to think of it he is now and I'm 20 lol! They don't like the fact that your dating because it forces them to realise that your growing up and to them you will always be their little girl!

Because Dads are guys. Dad's know guys and what guys want. He knows what can happen, because that's what he was working for when he was your age. Trust your dad, he knows whats best. It will keep you from getting into an a bad situation. You will understand someday. Hopefully later than sooner.

they just want what is best for their children especially their daughters. At least i know with my dad he still looks at me like i am his little girl even though i am now 19. i mean i will always be his little girl but i think that i am old enough to make my own decisions
