I was reading and I heard lead can higher the cause of cancer. Recently my daughter was playing with a pencil and lead got into my thumb. I could still see a slight dark black but it's not as dark. Is this bad or does it increase the chances of cancer?

Don't worry about pencils, they don't have lead they use graphite, which is just carbon. Plus I've had so many pencil points brake-off in my body from falling down with a pencil in hand when I was little, it's not funny and I'm fine after all these years, and am answering your question. I still have chunk in my lip to this day.

Pencil lead isn't the same as the stuff that causes cancer: It's actually a graphite-clay mix. No cancer there!

It most likely won't cause cancer unless you still have a big piece still jammed into your thumb or DO IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I got a piece of lead stuck in my foot and took it out. If it still hurts when your hand is relaxed the piece will still probably be in there. As long as you don't do it often, it should be fine.

Well pencil "lead" isnt actually lead it is Graphite.

Plus, getting a lil piece of pencil stuck in you wont hurt. It would be like not wanting to cross a bridge cuz it has ead materials in it. You should be fine.
