Hi, I am going to have a male akita puppy for Xmas. I want to know what wire crate size suit him the best (full grown).

I would go with a 48 inch long folding crate. I use the Midwest double door crates for my large breed dogs (they are available at Petsmart). They are nice because the 2 doors allow you to put in right next to a wall, and they fold when not in use. Also, the Midwest brand come with a divider panel to go in the crate, making it smaller, and easier to potty train with. Good Luck!

Go to a pet store (or look online) and find one that will hold a husky sized dog. The wire ones can come with a divider so he won't have too much room (and soil the crate) and the crate can get bigger as he gets bigger. Most crates have the breeds that would fit in the crate to make it easier, some also have a weight guide.

Instead of getting a crate, I would get a wire cage with a divider panel. A crate is just one size, but you do not want to get a great big one for him while he is a pup, other wise you will have a heck of a time potty training. A divider cage allows the cage to grow with the pup, this way you do not have to buy several different sizes, and it makes for easy cleaning when he has an accident.

Actually you will need to buy crates that fit his size as he grows. If you start out with a very large crate while he's a pup, you will defeat the purpose of crate training because he will have enough room to "go potty" in the crate. Actually you should speak with your vet about crate training a dog. Crate training is a wonderful thing, but in order for it to prove productive for you it is important that you crate train properly. Don't take any crate training advice from here, please speak to a professional about it so that it will not end up being a disaster for you. Best of luck with your new pup!

A crate for any dog should be JUST big enough so the animal can sit, lie down, stand up, turn around and thats all! This is so they don't soil their own kennel but also because dogs like their very own sheltered and small place. They are denning animals. Your dog will eventually go in and out of his kennel as he pleases or if he gets scared of someone or something. This is their safe place.

well you dont want to get a crate for a **** sized dog no matter what kind it is because this will give the dog too much space for it to go to the bathroom which will absolutely NOT help you if you're trying to crate train/potty train your dog. so you need to buy a crate at a pet store according to its weight (says on label at store) and as he/she grows buy a new crate to accomodate its size in height and weight. you could also talk to one of the workers at a pet store like petsmart or petco.

extra large size.
Be sure you can add a divider to it for whn he is small.
My sister has one and she bought the extra large wire crate and used a divider and then the full crate as he grew into it.
Worked just fine.

Extra Large will give him a bit of extra room. Large will be a good fit.

well a medium should be good for an Akita.. they are such beatiful dogs.. keep in mind he shouldn't have enough room to run back and forth, but he should have enough room to relax and spread out for a nap.
Good luck with your doggie!!: )
