You could always buy a plain cake, then layer it with some cream and fruit or chocolate and ice it. Then it'll have the home-made feel. However it's not that difficult to make a cake! If you can't get your cake to rise, try easier recipes like cupcakes stacked together or a slab of brownies

If all else fails, get a box mix. I normally don't suggest this, but you seem to need a major hand here! Anyway Duncin Hines is a good brand.
Now, this is something I have to watch my oven with: Is the thermostat right? If not, what you think is 350 degrees might actually be 375.
I do have access to a couple of very easy cake recipes now. Here's one of them:
Two-Egg cake
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour (I've found regular all-purpose flour that's been sifted twice with a bit of starch is a good substitute)
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk
Stir shortening to soften. Gradually add sugar, creaming thoroughly (12 to 15 minutes at medium-high speed on mixer). Add vanilla. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour with baking soda and salt; Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating after each addition. Bake in 2 paper-lined 9 x 1 1/2 inch round pans at 375 about 23 minutes. When the cake is done, a toothpick inserted in the middle will come out clean.
Good luck!

You can cook! Cooking is a mind set and following a recipe is easy. How much do you love your aunt? You have to put love in to cooking or nothing will turn out or won't be as good. Pick a simple cake recipe and a frosting recipe or buy it from the store. You can add a message on top of the cake by putting on a different colored frosting, just put the frosting for the message in a sandwich bag , make a small snip with scissors in the corner of the bag and squeeze out your message. EASY! ENJOY! You will build confidence in your cooking skills when you cook often, don't give up if it isn't perfect, it will still be enjoyed.

If your mom is alright with you using a cake mix, you can do this:
To any flavor boxed cake mix add the following instead of using the directions on the box:
2/3 c. water
1 stick butter
3 eggs
Beath for two minutes on medium spead until well blended. Bake according to box directions for whatever size pan you are using. This makes a cake mix just like homemade cake.
Homemade buttercream frosting:
1 stick butter, softened
1 box confectioner's sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Beat butter and vanilla together until creamy
Add sugar in three parts while you continue beating until incorporated - beat a minute or so more until the consistency for frosting the cake

you said your mom wants the cake to be homemade not from scratch, so buy a box cake mix and follow the directions and it will be a homemade cake. Now, if she meant scratch and you know that's what she meant, you need to find a recipe you like on-line or out of a book. Good luck and happy cooking!

Bake a Pillsbury or Betty Cocker cake. Follow the instructions; you can't mess it up. I suggest you use water instead of milk. Also, use the butter recipe mix. Add double the amount of butter suggested. This way it's easy to make and you change it a little so it can be homemade. Sometimes, I add some nuts to the batter. Good luck!!!!

Don't lie about it because it will come back to haunt you either by him making you eat things that you hate or his finding out that you lied. Try to stay away from the topic all together, but if he asks you point blank either tell him that you prefer a different style of cooking or that it didn't appeal to you. If he really likes you he will get over it and then you can both eat thing you like together.

buy a cake mix in a box and the frosting in a container already made- when you mix the cake just don't overmix it- and make sure the cake it totally cooled before you put the frosting on or you will have a big runny mess!! Have fun! D

If you can't cook, then you are out of luck. Honestly, you've removed all the options, leaving you with nothing.
You said you can't cook it.
You said you can't buy one.
The only partial option left is to ask a friend to bake it for you. Techincally, it will be homemade, just not by you. . .
