If a lot of people are moving to countries like Australia and New Zealand and a lot of younger people are not getting married and so not starting families. Why is the population heading way over 60 million in the u.k?

I guess i was being rhetorical. I am well aware of why the population is rising. Many immigrants from countries like India, Pakistan have a somewhat bigger family. And once they move over here for a few years they bring the rest in as well.

As for the eastern european immigrants. The money is certainly not recycled within this country. It is sent back to their country of origin.

And someone also mentioned that as many people are coming in as are going out. But its the indiginous anglo saxon population that is leaving and being replaced with people from countries of a less economically background. But hey maybe im totally wrong, give it a few years and we'll see. Personally, i can't say im too thrilled about it.

In every year since 1901 (except 1976) there have been more births than deaths in the UK and people are living longer.
Immigration into the UK is around the same rate as emigration from the UK, although immigrant families tend to have more children than native families.
Without immigrants the UK population would be in a decline.

England is full because they come here leeching off our taxes/etc and yes some may work but as the thickos in this country that allow it to happen they actually beleive its doin our country GOOD to have them here? what are they on? foreign drugs or something? they are coming here getting OUR WAGES LOWERED then boggin off back with all the cash an laughing at us, and im sick of people saying "theyre only doing jobs that we dont want to do" well like the saying goes... "its a dirty job but someones got to do it" meaning no matter how turd the job is people with no qualifications or whatever need the pooey little jobs that the foreign freaks are taking over and ruining the wages for life. for example last year i seen a job advertise near where i work, it was a measly £6.70ph but this year the EXACT same job is now £5.50ph because the poles will work for less. which means our own people who have to have them scabby jobs for whatever reason are now going to get paid a whole lot less. i cant beleive idiots condole this behaviour! stick up for your own cos they do!!

Top and bottom of the answer why people come here, it is because the UK is too soft. They give out hand outs left right and centre of our hard earned Tax payers money. Then the Government have the cheek to turn round to the Brits who was born here for us to sort out our own pensions for when we retire. As what Catherine Tate would say...What a F***ing Liberty.

To expect the population to decrease then death rate should be more than birth rate. Unfortunately, Uk is an advance country, NHS system is solid and peolpe eat healthy.Hence death rate is low and even if one out of ten of the population is reproducing then there is bound to be a population explosion. Not only that, you must remember that the poles are here.UK is a kind of miniature paradise all flush into.

1,500 foreign people come into the UK every day and 1,000 British nationals leave.

That can only end in tears as Britain will lose its sense of identity and the country will turn into little pockets of cultures that never mix with each other. Everyone loses out that way, whether British born or not.

In fact the population isn't increasing that much anyway.

"UK population has grown by 17 per cent overall since 1951 but compared with many other developed countries over the same period, the UK population is growing more slowly. It is smaller than the average growth for EU Europe (23 per cent) and considerably smaller than some countries - for example USA 80 per cent; and Australia 133 per cent." - from the 2001 census.

Douglas, do you realise just how hard it is for an immigrant over here?
Far from being given houses, cars, money and all kinds of things you hear from people, they are given shopping vouchers that they can only spend in one shop, they are not given money.
They're not allowed to work until they have their hearing to decide whether or not they can stay in the country.

If they are allowed to stay, the majority of immigrants that i know, have all got jobs. Putting money back into the economy, more so than some smackheads and low-lives who were actually born in this country.

If they get refused entry, then they are arrested and taken into custody and taken to a detention centre down south.

Occasionally some slip through the net, and end up staying here illegally. They can't claim benefits. Can't work legally. So they end up doing cash-in-hand work for dodgy people. Usually very low paid too.

Low paid work: Immigrants are often taken advantage of by unscrupulous bosses, because they know the immigrants will work for low pay. Brits wont.

How many people have Irish decendants?
When the Irish came over during the potato famine, it was just the same then, with people complaining of 'immigrants taking thier jobs' etc.

Some of us wouldn't be here now lol

3 Thumbs down?

Obviously can't handle knowing the truth.

because half of our popultion is foreign. i wouldnt mind it but you go through certain bits of our community and its like were in a foreign county. I dont have a problem with people coming over to our country but when you start feeling intimated in you own society then you should start wonderin what is going on!

it is the because more of the elderly people are living much longer now than before.. this is due to improving standards in health provision and better care of poeple.
UK is not alone, but it may seem like that the UKs population is growing really fast because of increased mobility of people, very cheap airfares, many more business and work opportunities and simply general prosperity is attracting people to UK...then these people have kids who keep the numbers up..

However those IDIOTS that think immigrants are to blame for the growing population then, i am so happy that they feel angry!!!its the immigrants who are doing the jobs of Surgeons, teachers, architects, lawyers etc....Who the hell do you think makes ure precious football teams like Man Utd and Chelsea win every week....BLODDY IMMIGRANTS
