When you read a book.
Even if you can't pronounce the word.Could you familiarize the word visually with the symbols and patterns that the letters makes, and understand it that way.
Because there are some ancient langauges(can't be specific like native american languages)that were just spoken but not written.

Or when you learn a new language do you have to see the words written down or can you learn it just by hearing the langauge being spoken?

And basically if you have any thoughts about what i just said.Well,to be frank, just say what ever comes to mind!

Good question. There is evidence on very, very current research projects that shows that learning the writing system of a new language helps you to be aware of information in that language that you might not understand otherwise. My research colleague in my lab is currently working on a project that investigates this hypothesis.

As an ESL teacher, I purposely try to give my students information in many ways (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) because I figure that they will learn better if they are exposed to the information in different modes.

And, yes, it is possible to read a written language that you don't speak. Many deaf people do this with English (even though their native language is ASL). And I can read to some extent in French and Portuguese, even though I have never learned these languages.

In my opinion, it is much faster and effective to learn it by hearing the language being spoken. When you read it, as you say, see the words written down you might get a good understanding of the grammatic, spelling, etc. etc. but not really the usage. You will become, by reading it, a better "scientist" of the language, however, you might not use, or not trully understand when to use it.

It's k with me if athletes use medicines. I consider the truly query is why we might permit any individual else let us know what's or is not k. Of path, I realize your query, despite the fact that. Artists don't seem to be viewed to be in pageant—a minimum of, now not like athletes are. Of path they are in pageant for cash—any individual to shop for their artwork. But they constantly say that is now not why they make their artwork. And lots of them are not making cash from it, so it is fully as much as them whether or not they use medicines or now not. Athletes, however, paintings for a chairman—a group, maybe a sponsor. As such, the ones "bosses" have a say in what the athletes can or can not do. Or the organizers of the parties make the foundations, and in view that it is their cash, they are able to make anything laws they wish. Perhaps the answers is to have an all-drug elegance of pageant. If now we have featherweight and heavyweight, female and male, age categories, para-Olympics and any quantity of alternative classes, why now not have a medicines-appropriate class? It's a authentic as the entire different classes. Taking the hypocrisy one step extra (in view that we allege that medicines are unlawful for the reason that they increase efficiency), it is not like athletes do not increase their efficiency with apparatus. The countrywide collegiate swimming arrangement (anything it is known as) not too long ago dominated that swimmers might now not compete within the high priced frame fits like those we see on the Olympics. Why? The fabric offers a aggressive talents, and now not all colleges can have enough money the fits. (They're lovely high-priced, they usually best final for 2 or so parties.) Football helmets and pads deliver the determined talents of stopping damage, thereby prolonging the existence/profession of a given athlete. If it is a well athlete, that offers a aggressive talents to their group. Better sneakers make for higher walking. Better automobiles make for higher racing (should you keep in mind NASCAR a recreation)—as does efficiency-modifying gas (it is k for the automobiles to have medicines however now not their drivers). Perhaps furthermore to eschewing medicines, athletes must readily compete bare.
