I have a new granddaughter & bought one of those fuzzy, inexpensive, red and white plush Christmas stockings for when they visit over the holidays. Does anyone have a good idea for how to write her name across the top of it? I tried iron-on letters with no luck, had to throw the stocking out and buy a new one. I'm not real "craftsy," so any help would be appreciated. I'd like it to look as nice as possible! Also, I really want to use the plush stocking, it matches the others I already have.

While I do agree that your daughter's well being is what needs to come first you also don't have to cater to her every whim. She's the child, you are the parent. Kids grow up better if they learn some lessons in life from their parents instead of getting their way all the time. Now, personally, I would NEVER have chosen to move a man in with my kid without a marriage license but that just might be me. That's where I would have chosen to put my kid's needs first and not been in this situation in the first place. As you've already taken that step you have to decide, are you treating this guy like a transient boyfriend or like he's husband material? If you're trying to build a family that will last then you've got to work this out WITH the family. And your BF is partly right. Your DD can choose to have Christmas in her room if she wants to. I wouldn't push too hard on that. BUT your presents to her are your responsibility and I would only give them in the family setting. They would be under the family tree and would wait there until she chose to spend at least 10 minutes opening them with the family. Send her an engraved invitation to the family celebration if you have to but then let her decide when she'll come to get her gifts. Then stick to it. She may have double gifts next year if she's too mad to join you this time. Hope you didn't buy anything she'll outgrow.

Buy a Scribblers (I think that's the name of the brand) fabric paint (you can get them at Wal Mart), and then use that, you can buy them in single colors, or glitter colors.
Use a paint pen to write the name.
Use regular white glue, write the name and sprinkle it with glitter.
Use a Crayola glitter glue tube (looks like a pen with a lid).
Take iron on letters, and attach fabric tape to the back and then apply them (don't use the iron on backing included on the backs of the letters)
Use a hot glue gun, write the name, and sprinkle with glitter. Or, use glitter glue sticks in the hot glue gun to make it instant glitter as you write.
If you are using glue or a fabric pen, write it in pencil first, lightly, then go over it with the pen or glue that you are going to use.

Try using glitter glue pens. They have them at WalMart where the crayons and markers are, and my daughter has successfully personalized lots of stuff with them. They're colored gel in a pen-shaped tube with glitter mixed in, and when it hardens (about a day), you'll have fancy, raised letters that will last a long time. Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Try using that glitter glue paint stuff that comes in a tube. You use the tip to write with. You can purchase it at any craft store. I don't remember the exact name of it.

Glitter Glue is how we did it at our house.
You could also try to get some powerful magnets and on of those kind with your with your granddaughter's name on it.
Those safty pin name badge things with her name on it would work too if you made it Christmasy
OR you could try velcro! Velcro a piece of fabric that those iron on letters will stick on, onto it.
Hope these help!

If you go to a craft store you should be able to find some stuff that comes in a tube and it's glitter stuff that you can use to write on it with. Ask one of the employees at the craft store and they will be able to show you.

You can buy fabric paints at craft stores. They have tips on them for applying the paint. Just write her name on the stocking.

i did my kids stockings names with ribbon and hot glue, another way would be to stitch them on, or with craft paint you can write it on in any color, and some of the colored craft paints have glitter in them which is really cute.
