In Judaism as it is traditionally practiced (Orthodox movements) women do not wear yarmulkes.

There was a famous rabbi who's mother was told by an astrologer that he would be a thief. She asked the sages in her town what to do, and they answered, "Cover his head so the fear of heaven will be upon him." So the Jewish people as a whole took on the custom.

So why not the girls?

In Judaism any woman who has been with a man must cover her hair. If a married woman covers her hair, it is normal and praiseworthy; but if a single girl were to cover her head, it would seem to indicate that she is promiscuous. For that reason it is forbidden for them to wear constant headgear. (It is forbidden in Judaism to imply negative things about oneself or others, without a very good reason.)

Also, even occasionally a yarmulke shaped garment would be forbidden because it is worn typically only by men, and would violate the commandment against transvestitism.

So what about fearing Heaven? How do girls get the benefit of a yarmulke?

A famous law codifier in Judaism, called the Magen Avraham, says that rather than wearing yarmulkes, single Jewish girls should braid their hair tightly, and this accomplishes the same thing.

This is the accepted custom in traditional Jerusalamite households, and many hungarian communities as well.

You mean yarmulkes...because women spiritually are better than men and as thus we do not have to wear kippas. Men on the other hand, MUST wear them because they constantly have to be reminded that G-d is above them.
