here is a professional website, the second link should take you to the page where you can click on your state and find out who is the agency responsible for licensing day cares and preschools in your state. Ohio, for example, you can actually view day care inspection reports on-line.

When I was trying to decide between two child care centers for my son here in Washington State, I called whatever agency it was that tracks complaints and they told me that they could only tell me how many complaints were recieved but NOT what the actual complaints were! I was shocked, because what good is that going to do me? It could be a stupid compaint like the food being served or something.
So... I googled the child care centers and I found out that one of the child care centers had a tragic incident where a child had drown on a field trip (it was in a newpaper article). Although they weren't doing field trips anymore, I decided not to choose that one.
Google it!

You should contact the licensing agency. In FL the county runs it and they are the ones who go out and inspect the schools. They would also have a website and you can check by the name of the school and view the last few reports. If there were any non-compliances they would be on there. I would also look at the number of times they went to that school because the more they have been there the chances are the more people have called to complain about something going on.

You can check with the Better Business Bureau. Even if the DayCare center doesn't belong people can still file complaints against them. Try typing Better Business Bureau into Yahoo

Check with your local Social Services and they can provide you with a list of Day Care Providers in your area. They are screened and any thing you want to know can be provided through them.
