I am having some problems with Windows Media Player. Every time I start it, it says that it has encountered a problem and needs to close, with the options send or don't send at the bottom. I have Media Player 11, and Windows XP Media Edition. 20 points forwarded to anyone who can actually fix the problem.

Is there a particular reason why it must Windows Media Player? I use WinAmp (which is free) and have never had a problem with it. You can download it at the link below.

Well I think Media Player 11 is great, but I have encountered a problem also.

If I launch IE7, it will take at least a minute or even two, to boot the Yahoo page. It's the same story with any web page.

I have a PC with a Sempron 2.2GHz CPU. The problem is that the CPU actually only runs at 1.49GHz in my PC. Media Player 11 utilizes almost 100% of the CPU processing capability when it's running.

Hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete and look in the CPU column and see what percentage of your processing capability is being used by Media Player. You may be very surprised.

Also if you want to see what your CPU is and how fast it runs in your PC download the "Advisor" at the following web site. A good idea is to print the report it will give you for reference.

Once I reverted back to Media Player 9, I have no problems.

If you have an older PC, or simply a PC with less than an optimum processor, then that may be why you are having issues with it.

Hope this helps.

Dont bother to fix it. Media Player is far to resource intensive for the low-grade results it gives. Get the VLC Media Player. It's freeware, and open source and plays stuff WMP can even load. It also uses almost no resources so it wont bog down your comp and comes with it's own codecs.

try to install then reinstall a fresh download....files sometimes get damaged in the down load process. if this does not work try an older version like 10.
