there isn't really. You could try maple suryp though, thats a pretty close match. Or dark cairo suryp.

No reason why you shouldn't use black treacle. Though perhaps you should buy a jar of molasses and try the genuine article. I regularly eat a teaspoonful as it is packed with minerals and vitamins and is very good for you. It's similar in taste to black treacle, though stronger and has a very slight bitterness which is quite pleasant.

Won't be the exact flavor but there are a few different options. Honey, maple syrup (real if possible), brown sugar or dark corn syrup. Even light corn syrup is close to the consistency that you're looking for. Here's a link to comparable amounts:

i would use brown sugar or regular sugar, mix it with some hot water to get the right consistency of molasses
