Walking on the treadmill is more a cardiovascular excercise than a toning exercise. However, you may find your leg more tone depending on what shape you are in before you start. Walking enough will cause weight loss in most people. But, of course you can't turn around and eat a quarter pounder with cheese for a snack because all the walking made you hungry. My opinion...at 5'2" and 100 lbs, it doesn't sound like you need to loose weight! Walking on the treadmill is a great exercise for the health of it. You will find yourself with more energy.

you wont really lose weight...well there is allot to take into consideration here...how long will you run, walk, jog and how often? you wont really lose weight with the treadmill, you could lose a few pounds but nothing big. your legs will benefit from the walking by becoming a little more toned, it will also be great for your heart and lungs but the rest of your body will not get toned. i suggest doing some simple strength training along with it for fun...do you have any goals you wish to achieve? like losing inches anywhere? it is always good to have a goal or something you can measure so that it will be easier to stay motivated and keep focused.

good luck

I don't recommend jogging/walking as weight-loss. Also at 5'2 100lbs I hope you're not *trying* to lose weight???

I believe walking and jogging to be best for cardiovascular and minor leg toning. It does help if you're trying to lose "water weight" though. This is a practice done by boxers and fighters before a weigh-in and is not recommended for someone without a professional nutritionist, you could dehydrate your body to death.

Then again, many others swear by it as a weight-loss exercise.

Just tone up, you don't need to lose any weight, but if you build some muscle, you might be happier with the way you look.

Well, you shouldn't lose weight as you are already nearly underweight. Just tone up, add some muscle. HTH : )

You probably will gain weight.......Muscle mass!!! If I were you I'd leave my body alone the way it is. It sounds like you have a pretty decent body and working out with out fat mass will make you gain muscle mass.

Try weight-bearing exercise. It's good for you.

You will do both.start off slowly and build up. Gradually faster and longer.Even if its power walking.
