Well, they should have looked into where to committ the crime so they could be local to you. Or better yet, don't committ crimes!

No. The time served for crimes is served in the state the crime took place. The inmate may be moved around the state, but not around the country (unless they are federal prisoners). They also don't get moved simply to be near family in the state. Prison is a punishment.

your only hope i believe is if the inmate is a federal prisoner, as no state is willing to house another states criminals due to high cost of incarceration.
Federal prisons however, will make an effort to house criminals with extended sentences closer to the family if they jump through the right hoops, unless the inmate needs to be at a special place like maximum security or such....

hope this helps

no, there is no way at all to transfer a state inmate from one state to another, they have to serve thier time within thier state.

If they are a Federal Inmate, they can be transfered to varoius prisons, but are done so because of security level and open beds.

No, prison isn't supposed to be convenient. Once you are found guilty in one state, then you must serve your time in that state, unless you are shipped to a federal prison.

I highly doubt it. The court determines where you are going to be....and what they say goes! Plus.......you generally are going to stay in jurisdiction the crime was committed. So..if you killed someone in MI, chances are you are going to be lodged in MI.
