a virus is something that just has to pass through the body... there is no cure for a virus.. antibiotics are only for infections.. and would do no good to a virus... if anything a antibiotic will only hurt you... it will attack the normal flora of the body lowering your resistance and might actually allow you to become more ill by putting you body at risk to catch an infection...
best cure for a stomach virus.. clear fluids to push the bad boy out... good luck!

Antibiotics treat bacterial infections, not viruses. No, it is not safe at all. It will lead to antibiotic resistance and lower you immune response. There are anti-viral drugs but they are powerful and reserved for VERY serious conditions such as Hepatitus and HIV.

Antibiotics do not work for viruses. If you have a virus you can treat the symptoms (call your MD for advice) but let the virus run its course. ex. if you are running a fever--you can take tylenol or ibuprofen to bring it down, if you are nauseated--you can eat/drink bland foods and clear liquids such as sprite, gingerale, jello, etc.. If you are having pain--you need to call MD. MD can prescribe med for pain and/or nausea. If symptoms worsen--go to nearest ER

Antibiotics are for bacterial infections not viral infections..
I dont suggest taking them..

no antibiotics for viruses, only bacterial infections. keep drinking plenty of fluids to keep electrolight balences up, you dont need to go into hypovolemia. be safe... lori b lpn, rns

antibiotics are not made to fight off viruses so it will not help. you would need antivirals which don't always work and they don't work on many viruses.
