My friend(yes a friend, not me) has a gymnastics meet on wed. and told her b/f that if he came, she would break-up with him. She says she does worse when people she knows come to cheer her on. I think it is b/c she doesn't want to let him down.
Guys, Would you feel let down if ur g/f didn't win first?? Would you be mad if she said this to you??

not mad no, why put her through the worry of knowing that her friends and/or family are watching if she doesnt like it.
and if she didnt win first so what..as long as she did her best and had fun.

I'm a male, was a decent wrestler in high school, never had any support from family at meets. Sometimes, after the meet I was concerned about the emotions that I expressed indirectly may have been taken the wrong way by my friends or my girlfriends. I too asked them not to attend, but let them make up their own mind (School spirit). But win or lose It was a challenge in my OWN being, and felt compromise if shared with others. Losses hurt more that way but made me work harder the next time. I really didn't want others, that I care about, see me lose or even worse hurt.

My brother was them same way, he was a golden gloves boxer and felt our eyes upon him and felt scrutinized by my father and I while he was in the ring. But your friend and my brother were right, it did hurt all of us to know that he(she) had done the best he(she) could and still lost, but in one case my brother was beaten badly and did upset us. But I do believe it's not that she would let him down, but more that she cares what she feels about herself and her relationship with her boyfriend. That if loss would happen she would feel worse about him seeing that and feeling sad for her, its just one meet. One game. One day in life and may better faced alone for her.

And no, I would not be mad if told this, I'd respect it and prepare win or lose.

Well i wouldnt be mad at her, not for such a childish reason. and most of all, it wouldnt matter to me even if she lost, as long as i know she atleast tried, thats enough. im not that crazy to break up with someone i love for that type of reason. and, if she thinks she would do better when im not around, then all i have to say, is go on and try ur best, just make sure u bring me baq the news of wat i missed.

well kind of, because i would be there to support her all the way, whether its congratulating her after performing well, or cheering her up after a loss. it wouldnt matter to me if she won or lost cuz shed always be a winner in my book.

yeah, it would annoy me. but it wouldnt be that bad. i would go anyway but not tell her, that way if she wins or does really good you can be the first to congradulate her or if she messes up you just wont say anything about it. thats just me though
