There are lots of things you can do.

You can talk with your teachers at school and start a fundraiser- maybe collect canned foods, etc. The class that gets the most cans, etc. wins a prize- maybe a pizza party.

You can write letters to soldiers in the armed forces. Many don't get anything- no letters, gifts or anything. This could be an English lesson and a geography lesson- find out where the soldier is based and learn about that area.

Your school can adopt a platoon. Raise money and gather gifts, etc. to be sent to the troops overseas. You will probably need the help of grownups with this. The cost comes in mailing the boxes of gifts, etc. to the troops.

I'm aware that among people that camp outside eating from dumpsters there are many that are too mentally ill to visit charities. The way to benefit these humans is to note dumpsters that are dumpster dived then place garments food vitamins there. apartment Dumpsters near universities are frequently dumpster dived. A city that provides laundry facilities would make a number of these humans more pleasant to view. These people whatever the reason avoid government structures as well as conversations, thus anonymous permissionless laundry facilities will bring benefit while a voucher or desk monitored facility would be shunned.

Ring some of your charitable organisations, like the Salvation Army or the Red Cross and ask if you can help in some way. They are usually in desperate need for volunteers.

Some places have volunteer coordinating organisations that can advise you too. Where I live, it's called Voluntereing Australia.

Homeless people love radios. Give them a small inexpensive radio like a walkman and batteries to play them and they become really happy with that.

write to your congressman, senator, and urge him to bring the troops home, that will take care of army problem, and the money we save from all these wars can be used to end poverty in our own country, because we need it more than others.
