I have had all different types of dandruff situations...very dry hair, oily hair, I have lived in different apartments and environments. All kinds of water types. My conclusion. which took years to finally come to. IS this-I used to use Head and shoulders every other shampoo, and I would really massage into my scalp, let it sit (like conditioner, remember scalp only, which is where the flakes start, but I would wait until I felt a tingle) then rinse and condition like normal. Then I was introduced to Selsun Blue. Did the whole regime-that was 4 days ago, I have washed my hair since and I have no symptoms of dandruff.

Use dandruff shampoo such as head and shoulders. This is one instance were 'rinse and repeat' would actually be true. First, scrub the roots to loosen up the flakes and rinse well. Next, apply to the hair and let it soak in for about five minutes. Rinse again. Remember that dandruff thrives in oily hair, so you need to wash every other day. Also know that you may actually just have a dry scalp, in which case you should see your doctor. If you do have dandrufff, it will probably take a few weeks or more to clear up.

Good luck!

If your dandruff is dry and itchy, I recommend Selsun Blue - Green cap. It is for dry scalp. Also, you can massage some olive oil in your scalp and let it stand for a while. After that, shampoo and make sure you get it all off.

If it is more oily, then the regular Selsun Blue will help. If it is cronic then use the yellow cap. Also, a natural remedy is to apply some rosemary water (put some dry rosemary leaves into boiling water) and rinse with it.

PS- Head and Shoulders did nothing for me! and I used it for over a year! With Selsun I got rid of it within a month.

dandruff is caused by dry scalp so the answer is simple. Depending on your hair texture you can try different methods. You can use a grease called sulfur 8. Grease is to heavy on my head so i use hot oil treatments. Keep your scalp moisturized thats the key.

Head and Shoulders shampoo every day. If that doesn't work try Denorex.

If that doesn't work go see a dermotologist.
