I am interviewing in the morning for a position as a police officer - I don't want to appear to "girly" by wearing my hair down and I know that as an officer I will be wearing my hair in a pony tail - so should I wear it in a pony tail? I also don't want to appear to casual. (by the way - my hair is medium length right past my shoulders)

A little tip:

If you're planning on becoming a police officer, cut your hair. You want to wear it in a pony-tail, on duty? Why not post a sign on it, saying "Grab here"? The first time you get pulled around like a goat on a leash, you'll wish you'd shaved your head.

I would wear it down and pull the sides back in a clip. Even though its a police officer position where you'd be in uniform with a ponytail, you should always go in looking a step more professional than you would on the job. Good luck!

try a side part and put it in a pony tail about in the middle of the back of your head sorta low but not so low that it looks messy and hangs down put it high enough where it still has a little flip and rock the bangs on the side hope you get the job :)

I would wear it in a low pony tail like around the base of you neck, I think that looks professional.

Why not wear your hair in a rooster tail. It is very professional, and also sexy. A ponytail is out for an interview.

Up does tend to be more professional... if interview seems to be going well... you can ask the interviewers advices as to considering getting a haircut. If there are any preference the 'department' may have as to lengths and styles - ie they consider being the correct 'representation' of the department.

Interviews are stressful enough without having to worry about your hair too.

French braid or twist looks professional enough for an interview.
but do what's comfortable for you.

No ponytail ---to casual

When I go to an interview I always where my hair pulled back its a more professional look. So i would suggest that you should pull your hair back.

I think maybe a bun? it sounds kinda lame, but i think that would be the most professional look as well as not too girly.
