You should file a claim under your policy. If you have collision coverage you will pay your deductible, but your damages will get fixed. If you don't have collision coverage, see if your state has uninsured motorist property damage coverage for accidents like these. Sorry that happened! Best of luck to you!

Step 1 is to look at your insurance policy and see if by chance you have full coverage and/or uninsured motorist. If you do you can start the repairs and your insurance will pay, less the deductible you have if any, and try to get it back from the ones who hit you.
If you don't have anything like that and the insurance agent won't help you, go to the police and report fraud, giving then the tag of the car and the name of the owner on the title. It doesn't matter if it's private property or not when there is fraud involved. You might also try the district attorney for your county and see what, if anything, they can do for you. A lot of counties have a victims rights set up where you can get some help and perhaps some money back. It's going to be frustrating, and you're going to hear "There is nothing we can do" a lot. Don't accept that answer, and don't give up. It's not right you should be out that amount of money.

CALL THE INS!
A prelude ran into your jeep and did $4000 damage? Must not be a Wrangler or CJ.
There is nothing you can do but take the a**holes to court and you probably can't even get a real name out of them.
Call your insurance and tell them this tale of woe.
They will tell you what to do.

the police had to fill out a report with the other drivers name, address and license info (#,etc.) as well as the details of the accident, if they didn't go to the headquaters of the precinct it happened in and report it, your insurance company will sue the other driver if he didn't have insurance. And by the way, nationality really has nothing to do with the fact that you were involved in an accident with an uninsured driver.
Gracias

Well sh(IT) happens!
Sorry!
PEOPLE
tend do sometimes have fake insurance
Like your *** probably had a fake ID
or whatever
but what anger me as you refer to them as a sort of species
like they come from MEXILANDIA and they ****** up your jeep
Dude get over its just some people who crashed with you
You should have obtained there number and called them to arrange some sort of pay cycle.
Stop being so uptight and try to fix things.
Those "Mexicans" are to ****** scared of getting deported because they probably saw how rude you were. im guessing you were, if you came off as a nice respectful SMART individual maybe they would just be nice back and arranged a payment plan.
Since they are illegal they can't do much
But they work so they do have money.
Let me teach you a little something for next time:
Como te llamas?
Cual es tu numero de telefono?
Me puedes ayudar?
gracias.
adios?

The way i see it is you will still have to pay just the deductible, and your jeep will be fixed, as far as the mexicans go report their car to the police and tell them that they hit you and gave you false information and ran away, they will get charged with hit and run (property), i hope you still have the lincense plate number.

Go to your insurance company first. If you don't have uninsured motorist then lesson learned, it's too cheap not to have it.
As others said I would certainly not bow down and take no for an anwer. Keep pursuing this.
Don't forget to sign every anti-illegal immigration petition you can find. This is just one small example of how we get fvcked over.

Does your insurance policy cover uninsured motorists? If the police won't do anything, you may be out of luck if you don't have uninsured motorists on your policy. You would still have to pay the deductible regardless. You could always sue the people who hit you if you somehow find out who they are. I swear, they make it too easy for illegal people in this country.

Find where they live, burn down the house. Typical, isn't it.
On a less serious note, go to the police station and ask what can be done. I hope you have the license plate number of the car...
