I'm looking for an old hamburger soup recipe that my mother used to make. I know that it includes ground beef, lipton onion soup mix, beef broth, and a couple of can's of veg-all vegetables, and tomatoes. I've searched high and low for a recipe like this on the internet, but I can't find one that is similar. Can anybody help me out on this. I've got a serious craving for it. Thanks to all that respond.

Not sure if it's the same one, but here's one my mom still makes for me. Brown 1lb hamburger w/1 sm onion chopped. In stockpot, add drained meat, 1 pkg Lipton onion soup mix, 3 cups beef broth, 2 cans veg-all ( or your favorite frozen veggies ) well drained, 2 cans stew tomatoes well drained. Season with a good dash of worchester sauce, salt & pepper. Simmer over med-low for about an hour, then mom tosses in 1/2 head of cabbage roughly chopped. Continue simmering, adding a little broth if necessary for at least 30 - 45 more minutes.....Serve with fresh hot cornbread & a big glass of milk - Yummy!!

If thisa recipe is not the one, you could just do with the engridients you have there. Brown beef, add onion soup, water etc...

2 lbs ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon basil
1/8 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 (2 ounce) package onion soup mix (for 3 or 4 servings)
6 cups boiling water
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 cup celery, sliced
1/4 cup celery leaves
1 cup sliced carrots
1/3 cup dried split peas
1 cup elbow macaroni
grated parmesan cheese
In a large saucepan, brown meat, drain excess fat.
Add salt, pepper, oregano, basil, seasoned salt, and onion soup mix.
Stir in boiling water, tomato sauce, and soy sauce.
Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare celery, celery leaves, and carrots; Then add to simmering mixture with split peas and continue to cook for 30 minutes.
Add macaroni and simmer for 30 minutes longer, adding more water if necessary and stirring occasionally.
Serve sprinkled with Parmesan cheese over individual servings.
To freeze: place soup in a rigid container and freeze. To reheat: remove from freezer and thaw. Place soup in saucepan and heat, stirring, until hot.
