Follow the basic rules in being an MC- if there is a need for you to introduce someone make it informal and funny make sure you can add jokes - that is to add spices --

opening speech should be great informal still with lots of jokes - people tends to react with jokes that formal sayings.

good luck and be yourself

Are you a student or a teacher?

If you are a student, then relate to your peers with funny one-liners. Don't be demeaning or use any material that might be down-putting (such as sexist or racist or homophobic) because this is the season to be tender and jolly and loving towards all wo-mankind, right?

Take a tip from ToastMasters and have a really great beginning speech MEMORIZED and a really strong ending MEMORIZED... the middle portions can be a little fluffier. The speech can just be jokey stuff, but it should have a point (to introduce what is coming up and to close the show on a strong positive note).

Keep things moving. Get a good sleep the night before. Do some voice warm-ups and EFT for energy amping (go here to see what EFT is and how it can help you to overcome anxiety and to amp up your energy level: http://tinyurl.com/sgdyu

Now, go break a leg!

Before you go onstage, take a look at your audience and choose several individuals to talk directly to. You speak as if you are talking to them each and every time that you talk. Choose people from all around the auditorium. I once changed clothing every time that I came out on stage and sang in the choir during every performance. I had a number of different shirts, ties, three pair of slacks, and two suit coats. The audience LOVED IT! I was constantly changing clothes behind the choral group and running to get to the front of the stage. EVERYTHING THAT YOU SAY does NOT have TO be FUNNY! Part of it should be as serious as you can be. Part of it should be hilarious, and part of it can be a combination. Find someone that is a great writer and work with them to get your ideas together. If you are going to talk about anyone in general make sure that they approve. Don't upset anyone that is there or performing. Use the Golden Rule as your guide! Make sure that you are not late coming onstage. The audience will notice that. Have a great time!

FIRST RULE: BE YOURSLEF. You are chosen to be the host because of your personality. Just be yourslef and "talk to the audience" have eye contact with them and converse with them. Also I suggest researching about previouse Christmas show events in the past years so you have an idea what goes on and what you can input about a funny thing that happned the previous year or any events that needs to be brought up again that can inspire the students and after that you can pu in "funny one liners" that can make the event a little more fun. HAVE a GREAT CHRISTMAS EVENT!!!

Be funny! And connect with the crowd, make them laugh, make em smile. Be charismatic. Smile!
