Tools, weapons, and electronics are usually what I like. Hobbies are good indicators of a really good gift. Does he like to paint? Build models? Fix stuff? Video games? Take a look at what he has, educate a guess as to what type of stuff it is (woodworking tools, fine arts type painting, 1st person shooter or adventure game or sports type game) And buy something that's within the genre.

This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.

I think that if he is driving, supplies for the car are great ideas, wax, carwash, air fresheners,etc. I also think that a gift card for gas is always something that anyone can use.
