Fake - you don't have water damage from trying to water it, you don't need to remember to water it, no worries that they will not last the whole Christmas season and you can display them really early, no needles to cleanup, you can buy them with lights now so no touching of lead lights, they are not the fire hazard of a real tree, when spreading their cost over several years they are a lot cheaper, no bald spots or bad sides ever again, the tree always fits the spot you want to put it up in, you can be really lazy and put saran wrap on it fully decorated for next year, you are saving a natural resource, you are not having to worry about how to dispose of the tree after Christmas, much sturdier than real if your cat is a climber

A real tree is always the best. The way it makes your house smell so fresh. However, you do have to make sure you keep it watered and it is a bigger mess at the end. I've always thought it was worth the extra work and mess. Taking the family to pick out the tree every year, was a big part of our family tradition. It's so exciting for the little ones. No question about it, go for the real tree.

I think a real christmas tree is better. For one, it smells better, giving your house a christmas time smell. Secondly, it is part of our family tradition to go looking for xmas trees every year; whether you find it in a pasture or go to a xmas tree farm, it is family together time. Thirdly, a fake tree is just that--fake. The real thing is always better!

this is a personal decision, fake are reuseable, u know save the wood, the real tree has great natural smell, of course then you have to get the needles out of your carpet and dispose of the tree after christmas. oh u pay for a fake one once versus 10-50 a pop each year.

i grew up on a farm, and always had real trees, made a nice outing for me and my little girl to go out and pick out and chop down our own trees. i did this until she was into her 20's. i loved the smell and the beauty of the tree. then i would save the tree trunk and burn it in the woodstove the following year.
now, i have 3 aritificial trees, adirondack style, all different heights, with a wizard type st nick in the center of the grouping. i like this because it is easy, no needles to pick out of the rug, but i do miss the hunt for the real tree, and the scent, ever so slight, but there..
good luck, happy holidays

A real one. You can't duplicate the scent a real tree gives off. And it makes everything "smell Christmassy".
