Ok, those who DO beleive in God, why do you beleive in him? Was it because you where told to? and those who DON'T beleive in God, why don't you and when did you decide not to?

(i'm not saying i don't beleive in God. I'm just confused if i do or don't...)

Read the Bible. Its fairy tales will show you how silly Christianity and Religion really are...once you separate the concept of "God" from the absurdity of "Religion", you may find there is no reason to believe. Or you might find that a magic unicorn is really God disguised as a talking rainbow. who knows? good luck!

I believe in God for many reasons. One of them is that it is a personal choice to believe it. There is no real way to prove or disprove a god. It is a choice, and I choose to believe there is a god. The reasons I believe this are because I have seen evidences for it and it makes sense.

In my own life I have seen miracles that can only be explained by the existance of a god. In particular, God healed me when the doctors said it would never happen.

Outside of my own life, I think there is evidence for a god of some sort. One thing is that there is life. Yes, you can try to explain away life using evolution, but the evidence for that seriously falls short of proof. Even if evolution is true, there had to be something to start everything. Spontaneous generation, which is the ONLY other option, does not hold up logically or scientifically.

Other than that, there are other evidences that I can see for a god, which I won't go to much into detail about right now because I should be studying for my final tomorrow. But I really do think the evidence points to there being a god. Now beyond that, I also think the evidence points to that god being the God of the Bible. But that is another issue. If you really want to learn more, email me at factorfiction16@yahoo.com and I will answer questions, give some resource that talk about it, etc. I just don't have time right now. Hope that helps.

I have looked for evidence of a god and have yet to find any; because of that, I think it is safe to say that none exists. I don't believe in ANYthing for which there is no proof--faeries, Easter Bunnies, angels, demons, god/s, etc.

I never really believed in any god despite being brought up in a Christian home; I spent many years researching, reading, and learning about all kinds of religions and philosophies and science and history before I finally felt safe saying that I find it most likely that no god exists.

Keep searching; you will find what makes you feel emotionally and spiritually fulfilled.

I believe in God because I realize that on my own I am not strong enough to get through the things I have gotten through because of prayer. I realize that every time I try to muddle through a problem on my own, without petitioning God for the answers, that is when the problem doesn't get solved properly or continues to hurt and be a problem. My belief in God is based on the foundation that all by myself, I really can't do much, but with the faith I have put in God, I have been able to do wonderful things, and accomplish things that seemed rather impossible on my own. I will be praying for you, God bless, and take care.

Good question. I'm beginning to see that much of the conflict hasn't as much to do with God, as it does with Jesus. My father was a Catholic (although not involved in the church), my mother had studied--as I have-world religions/philosophies & selected what felt right for her. Christainity was totally impossible for me to accept; that a new born baby is born a sinner! Repent repent. For what? What one means by "God" is incredibly important as well! I CANNOT logically, or otherwise, believe a "loving" God created humans only to JUDGE them, & punish or reward. A "superior being?" Hmmm. Like, SOMEBODY must have started this whole thing! LINEAR THINKING. What came before the God people refer to (so very patriarchial & mean)? Try to comprehend infinity. One can't. All the questions blowing in the wind. Finding a suitable answer (for oneself) & trying to force it down someone else's thoat. No thank you. I'm sure it's comforting to many people to have "faith." It also relieves them of a great deal of personal responsibility, (nice person because I don't want to go to hell, whatever tragedy is God's will & so on).
TO EACH HIS OWN, & LEAVE THEM ALONE. You're obviously an agnostic, & at least exploring. I respect that.

Edit: Eefen--the definitive "GUILT & SHAME." What have these people done to make them think so badly of themselves? "..separated by the barrier of SIN." ??? Did God create us as sinners, or does that go back to Evil Eve? Another thing rational minds would question: "I cried out to God & He did things that only He could have done." Is there the most remote possibility that these "things" would have happened in the normal sequence of living? The "wisdom" of the following example is curious. Someone prays to God to save the life of someone they love. The person lives. They attribute this to their prayers being answered by God. Someone prays, & the person does not live; & they say: "It was the will of God." Too many contradictions for me to accept.

Being raised in a Christian home, the idea of God was not new to me. I believed in God, called myself a Christian, but inside, I wondered: would I really go to heaven? I did not even realize the extent of sin's influence in my life, as I was almost completely blinded by it. But there was still the fact that I was raised in a Christian home, and so I tried something: I honestly cried out to God, and asked Him to help me. It was a long, hard, and tough journey, but He guided me to where He wanted me to be, even though I so many times learned the definition of the spirit being willing, but the flesh being weak. I was raised in a Christian home, surrounded by Christian morals, and called myself a Christian. But I was really the one who actually had to make the choice to follow God. It was not forced on me by my parents or surroundings. But it is the best choice that I have ever made. I cried out to God, and He did things that only He could have done. If you are confused if you do or do not believe in God, know this: He is real, and He loves you. However, you and Him are separated by the barrier of sin. It is real. Still though, He loves you, and wants you to be forgiven. Don't you want that barrier lifted, the burden of guilt and shame removed? All things are possible with God, and He wants to save you. If you want to do me a favor, then follow the link below, and read these verses there. In reality, you'll be doing yourself a huge favor. God bless you!

Originally I believed in God just because it makes a lot more sense than evolution. After that, I have had many experiences which have re-inforced the undeniability of His existence, and of the power of Jesus's resurrection.

If you want to find out for yourself, then all you need to do is ask Him to reveal Himself to you. No-one else need know - what harm can it do...

I don't believe in God. I decided it was all an ancient myth perpetuated by the Church in order to maintain their position of power when I was about 20. I've never seen any hard evidence to prove that God exists. And the fact that we're here isn't proof of anything. Evolution is all the proof I need. God is not required to produce any of the life that inhabits our planet today.

I was born and raised atheist by atheist parents who really dislike Christianity. In more recent years, I have become more agnostic. I can only say that I don't believe in a Christian or Islamic deity. I don't know, in this lifetime. But I hope there is more.
