they are both pig meats which are prepared differently. Pork normally left as is,for cooking normally. Ham is pigmeat that is smoked (put in a room where oak or similarsuch wood is burned and the smoke gives the lovely new taste and is now ham and changes the coulor.

Ham comes from the part of the pig that gets more exercise... it's the dark meat part of the pig. Pork (chops etc) come from the non-large muscle groups. Less exercise, so it's white! (that's just a guess, by the way. Just compared the pig to the turkey!)

Because ham is smoked I believe...which makes the meat pink. I could be wrong, but I think I'm right.

i dont know about you but pork is pink, it is only white when you cook it, and if you dont overcook it it will retain some of its pinkness.
besides this, a chicken breast is whiter than the legs. so it is just a part of the body thing and one getting more exercise than the other.
