I just thought of this and thought to ask! what do you think? Its not supossed to be good for you but yet you dont get sick when you drink eggnog?!

eggnog is pasteurized, destroying all bacteria previous to packaging. be sure and throw out eggnog after the container has been opened for 3 days though - once it goes bad, it can breed high quantities of bacteria in a very short time

Most packaged eggnog is made from processed eggs, not from raw eggs. That way the potential for salmonella poisoning is removed.

Eggnog isn't the same as raw eggs. Its been pasturized and processed.

My 18 year old Granddaughter says any one that eats eggs in any fashion is crazy. To answer the question I would think any thing containing raw eggs could be taking a chance.

If you are using alcohol in the Eggnog, it will kill the bacteria, but I recommend you use eggs that are pasteurized.

I believe that the exposure of the eggs to the sugar in the nog essentially "cooks" the eggs...similar to cavichie with the lime juice and the fish
