I am having a Polar Express PJ party for my play group. I was thinking of doing cinnamon rolls but I'm wondering if parents would be okay with that? I let my son eat basically what he wants-in moderation of course. But I know some parents don't let their kids have sweets. Will toddlers like cinnamon rolls? Or is there some other snack or breakfast item I could serve??

I think they sound terrific. If you can, ask some parents first. I imagine most of them will be there as the children are so young. I'm sure if a child has food allergies the parent will let you know if they are not going to be there. As for sweets, I can't help but think that any child who cannot eat a cinammon roll is a very unlucky child indeed! The cinnamon may spur a choking reflex in some young children also, so just watch, which you're going to be doing anyway:) Those Moms & Dads are lucky. What a great idea for the kids!
Could you send a few cinammon rolls to MA? =)

How about offering the cinnamon rolls along with fruit cups and bagels with cream cheese. That way there's a variety, some healthy options, and if anyone has a cinnamon allergy it's not a big deal?

Try french toast sticks with individual applesauce cups for dipping. I bake my french toast in the oven and then cut them into sticks. My son is two and loves them. But I wouldn't be offended by cinnamon rolls being served at a toddler party, and I would hope no other parent would be offended by foods you put out at your own party. If they are they should bring their own food!

I think parents expect that kids attending any party are going to have some sweets. Why don't you do really little rolls, so it's not such a huge shot of sugar?

If their children have allergies or restrictions, the parents are likely to mention it (wouldn't you?). It never hurts to ask when they RSVP.

If you want to avoid so much sugar, try cereal or granola parfaits with yogurt & fruit. Just layer in clear cups or plastic cocktail glasses.

One thing that you need to be careful of is that along wtih peanuts, cinnamon has a very high allergy occurance.. talk to the other mommies- make sure none of their kids are allergic to anything, and go from there. avoid things that are too sugary or contain nuts or cinnamon though because sometimes parents don't know their kids are allergic to nuts or cinnamon until it's too late.

I personally think cinnamon rolls would be fine. I'd make sure and check to see if any of the children have any type of food allergy before hand.

I had a polar exhibit get at the same time for my sons' (a lengthy time period a million and 5) get at the same time. We had it on a practice and served cookies. I used Sanda Lee's recipe for cookie cutouts. The dough is really basic to roll. I used mini decrease-outs so 3-4 cookies equaled one standard cookie. That way the youngsters were given to eat extra cookies. once you frost them, use meringue powder (Michaels or different craft save), powdered sugar, and a touch water. The frosting will thoroughly harden and also you need to toss the cookies in an excellent ziploc. My youthful ones loved putting the sprinkles on the cookies. i does no longer attempt this on the get at the same time. it ought to nicely be achieved days in additional desirable. I served chocolate and white milk (their decision) chilly. They weren't waiting for warm choc. at their youthful a lengthy time period.

Of course they will LIKE cinnamon rolls.

I would personally let my nephew eat ONE. With something else.

You could serve biscuits with sugar-free jelly or something instead. I would be much more comfortable letting my nephew eat that, vs a bunch of cinnamon rolls.

Sounds fine; however, omit any frosting or sugar glaze. Kids are hyper enough the way that it is and you never know....you could have a toddler with juvenille diabetes that shouldn't have any sugar at all.
