the story of the Good Samaritan is one obvious one. Numerous examples of people giving their only coat, or their last thing to eat, or the only small amount of money they have, vs the hypocritical and rich Pharisees etc who claim they know everything about the Bible and religion but are hypocrites and don't share with anyone and hoard their money etc. Sound like any Christians you know who post here frequently?

I'm sure you will get like 20 quotes on this, so I'm not going to bother. But Jesus was always helping strangers--especially those who came to him seeking help. He healed the blind, raised Lazarus from the dead, etc. On a more "humanized" level, there is the story of the Good Samaritan who helped a person in need. Jesus said the most important commandment is to love each other--that means helping people whether we know them or not. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ.
Also, the Gospels are sort of like biographies of Jesus, so most of the helping is done by Jesus, it may be more helpful to look elsewhere--like when Paul praises the Churches for their charities in the Epistles. Good luck!

parable of the Good Samaritan
the person did good without having to be asked
and it was very possible that their two races disliked each other - making the gift more meaningful
however - the Bible also cautions us to be wise as serpents
so if you come to me for a hand out - you will probably get a NO right off the bat - my few pennies are precious - and I take care of my family first

The most classic example is the good samaritan. It is found it Luke 10:35-37
The Parable of the Good Samaritan
25On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"
27He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'[a]; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[b]"
28"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."
29But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
30In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35The next day he took out two silver coins[c] and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.'
36"Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?"
37The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him."
Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise."
My personal favorite is the man whose friends lowered him through the roof of a house where Jesus was teaching so that he could be healed. Matthew 9
2And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
3And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
4And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
5For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
6But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
7And he arose, and departed to his house.
