Regarding Poseidon, aren't most Christians atheists? Why don't they call themselves partial atheists then?

I don't know about atheists, but most "Christians" really believe in a pagan god. It's the trinity. Trinities of gods have been around for thousands of years, going back to ancient Babylon. The ancient Egyptians had many triune godheads, such as Osiris, Isis, and Horus.

Christendom's God is made up of the Father. Son, and holy spirit. Such a concept of God is not found in the Bible. There is not one verse that says God is made up of 3 coequal persons.

Because an atheist is one who doesn't believe in a God, period. Christians believe in the God Yahweh, the God in the most high. While there are many powerful spiritual beings out there that people worship and believe in, Christians believe in the Creator of the universe and his power, and that he is the one, true GOD. Why go to the manager for help when you can go to the CEO? :)

atheism is the lack of beleif in spiritual entities, mostly focused on the Juso-Christian dominant beleif of a single God. But because of this example does not mean that wee do beleive in other forms of gods. EG: Someone who doesn't beleive in the Judo-Christian God or Allah but does beleive in Poseidon the sea god, is a Pagan because he is part of a pantheon, or Poseidon alone would be...a Poseidonite? Religious classification is used to assert beleive in a single beleif or system of beleifs, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity: they all say what they DO beleive in. If we took the time to invent names not onyl for everything you do beleive in but also what you don't the list would not end. Example: "Hello, my name is Bob. I'm a Buddhist with atheist tendencies to Allah, God, Jupiter and Mars but with Agnostic tendencies towards Vishnu and Ganesh. I feel moderately certyain about my faith and enjoy being Agnsotic in moments of extreme stress or difficulty"

Bit long isn't it? Religious Groupings says what you DO believe in. If you want to find out what a person doesn't believe in, don't stick a label on them, just ask. And Atheism is a lack of belief in ANY spiritual deity but assumes the Judo-Christian one.

Because a Christian believes in the one true God. Pagan gods are nothing. They are not alive. They are all man made. Not much of a God if you ask me.
