Surely some of you seen the video of police kicking a mental man while he was down, broke his ribs, punctured his lung, etc. The police always get away with it, even though it was on film.
I am a victim of police brutality, how can I possibly win if they get away with murder?
There is no "Innocent until proven guilty!" The police think they're the judge and jury. This is just wrong! Has anyone else here in the US been a victim of this crime too?

The police will lie for the "bad" ones, they all stick together even though it's a lie, so even the so-called "good" ones are then "bad" as well.
Everyone is supposed to be "Innocent until proven guilty." Some of the answers I've seen on here prove that everyone is guilty just for being arrested!
Most have proved my theory of this correct.
This has nothing to do with not seeing hands, resisting arrest, running from the police, or police feeling their lives or someone else's life is in danger. It's just about bad cops abusing their power to be judge and jury.

Its not that they get away with it. You only see one section of events. That is the problem with most people they believe what they see and hear on the tv. I am not saying all the incidents are condonable, there are bad seeds out there and they do get punished for their actions, and the Justice system isn't perfect, there will be some the slip through the cracks.

But for the most part officers do follow the law. Yeah you might see a video clip of a guy getting whooped on but that is just a 15 second clip of a 30 plus minute incident. You need to stop and ask yourself, is the guy not cooperating with his hands, are his hands under himself, coul there be a weapon there, is the guy high on drugs so he is hard to incapaciate? Those are just some extra facts that could make the situation lawful. Don't always believe what you see, media always has a slant, more ratings the greater the controversy. Even in the incidents where the guy gets shot numerous times I mean what do you expect. Police draw their guns and yell out warnings, if the person makes moments that are threating the officers life then they will take a shot. If you have mutlitple officers there you are going to fire a few rounds to make sure the suspect is incapaciated. You can't expect them all to wait and see if anyone else is going to shoot.

Alot of these issues are just common sense and the fact the people swear they didn't do anything wrong. Just like alot of people thing they are pulled over unjustly when they have infact broken the law or the vehicle resembles a likeness pertaining to a current case.

please do not forget the fact they also get away with murder for instance a piticular case that is close to me is a officer stopped a young man at a convience store and he had a bicylcle out side the store, the officer searched him fully sweatshirt he was wearing was on the ground along with anything he may of came out of the store with, when this boy tried to explain he had a court date already set for that friday which was two days away he told the officer call my probation they will tell you never was the kid arrested for any violent crimes maybe drugs but just completed a year clean of it well when the officer started getting pushy he decided to run due to the fact he had been beaten before from police just because. well whe he ran he made it a block away and he was jumping a wall when the officer shot him four times in the back in front of many witnesses including elementary school kids due to school just let out , well the officers excuse was he did thought he had a weapon which he knew he did not he had just searched him at the store and again witnesses to verify that and officer also stated that he was shot three times from the front another lie autopsy states four bullets interd from the back as he was climbing over a gate. another thing he was made to be a horrible person which he was not just so it would make it justified that he did what he did . on top of that the body was at the county corners for two weeks and oops. thay said we forgot to refrigerate the body so he was out in the heat decomposing for 14 days i think it is called distroying eveidence when do they forget to put s body in cold storage especially a high profile case involving a police shooting so i ask you you tell me were justice is and again he was found not at fault why i will never know that is just the crooked way our justice system works
a badge dose not exonrate them from wrong

There are some Cops that do think they are above the law. They however are not like every Cop. They are the ones that make all Police look bad. Now all of you that have been hit need to do one thing next time, and I know there will be a next time, and that is just listen to the man that has the badge. Dont be an ***, just obey the officer and the entire situation will be over with with little problems.

Don't think for a second that these officers get away with what they do. Behind the camera and news reports there is a whole investigation behind what these officers do. Just like it is for you, you thinkof number one first. Officers have to do the same.
Stop and think about what police see everyday. What you run away from, we go into. We see things that you couldn't EVER imagine.
At the end of the day, we want to go home alive, just like you. The world is full of horrible people, and maybe the officers acted wrong in your eyes, but put yourself in their place. How scared you might have been. They're just doing their job. Do you get shot at at your job? Do you have to constantly look over your shoulder because you're afraid someone might hit you over the head with a bat just because of your JOB?
Think before you judge what these officers might have had to do to protect themselves, and others around them. They'd take a bullet for you, but would you do the same?

Tough question because there are levels of "getting away with it." Should a cop who slaps a mouthy teen get fired or go to jail if its his first offense - or get suspended without pay - or get a letter of reprimand in his file - or doesn't get promoted? I know some cops who have hit people and lied about it, but in the end it was investigated and they were punished by the department. It was not made public so it seemed like they got away with it. hey didn't, justice was served.

Ok, let me begin by saying....I'm a police officer.

Now, I never saw the video you speak of, but it does sound like excessive force may have been used. And the shooting in NY, with the guy who was to be married the following day, sounds like they may have gone overboard. Yes, these things do happen & it makes us all look bad. But, a lot of times, videos don't tell the whole story. With the shooting in NY....I believe the subject refused to show the officers his hands....you need to understand that when we tell you to "show us your hands", and you don't, we assume you have a weapon and intend to use it against us. "The hands" are the thing that could kill us.....I'm not too worried about someone holding / using a gun or knife with their feet. I leave my family every day knowing that it's possible I could die and never see them again !! So don't think for one minute that I'm not going to do what I have to do to get home safe. When a person doesn't listen to our orders, it puts us at risk.....even an unarmed person....how do I know the person isn't some expert combat fighter who could get my gun from me and shoot me? Prisoners practice that stuff in prison, ya know? So, am I just supposed to allow that person to not follow my orders to take their hands out of their pockets, or to stop approaching me?

Like I said, I know that there are many cases where excessive force was used.....and they make all cops look bad, but it all begins with listening and following orders......you make the cop feel safe and good things will usually happen.

I believe it's because of PR. How would you think of cops if they were getting fired all over the place? No one would trust them, and that would be very bad.

IF YOU HAVE 1000 POLICE OFFICERS AND 98% ARE GOOD AND HONEST, THAT LEAVES 20 COPPERS THAT CAN MAKE THE REST LOOK AWFULLY BAD. MOST FIGHTS ON TAPE, NO MATTER WHO IS INVOLVED, LOOK BAD. MOST PEOPLE DONT GET OFF ON THINGS LIKE THAT. WHOEVER IS GETTING THUMPED GETS THE INITIAL SYMPATHY-UNTIL YU HEAR THE WHOLE STORY. I WAS A P.O. FOR A NUMBER OF YRS AND, TRUST ME, A FIGHT IS THE LAST THING WE WANTED. THE COPS ARE GONNA WIN NEARLY ALL THESE BATTLES ON YR USUAL NEIGHBORHOOD VIDEO--BUT ITS NOT GONNA LOOK GOOD NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU LOOK AT IT. BUT IF THE COPS GOT THEIR BUTTS KICKED ON A REGULAR BASIS IN BY HOOD, I DOUBT YOU WOULD WANT TO LIVE OR RAISE YR FAMILY THERE FOR VERY LONG. FOR GOOD OR FOR ILL THEY ARE OUR SECURITY BLANKET THAT ALLOWS US TO SLEEP PEACEFULLY AT NIGHT. ITS ONLY WHEN YOU ARE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF IT THAT YOU DONT REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE GOOD THAT THEY DO.
