Does anyone know where I can buy a dishnetwork high def decoder?

Also, do I have to subscribe thru Disnetwork for HD channels? Or would some type of OTA antenna be ok?

I'm trying to get HD channel for a good price. Comcast has their offerings of $5/month to rent the Moto stb that decodes the channels to HD.

Thanks

Satellite TV provides a superior picture for less money than Cable.

Currently Dish Network only leases High Definition equipment. Both of their High Definition receivers include an Over-The-Air (OTA) tuner. You must subscribe to Dish Network for their OTA tuners to function. Most new High Definition televisions include an OTA tuner. If you lease the 622 DVR (my favorite) you’ll want to use it’s tuner to record programming.

Depending on your distance from the local broadcast towers you may need an exterior UHF antenna. I have included links to a website that will assist you in determining which antennae type you’ll need and another website with a photo of the most common exterior HDTV / UHF antennae.

Negotiate for the best deal prior to signing a contract. You are only a new customer once and can get incredible deals and equipment. I highly recommend the Dish Network 622 PVR.

You can look at dishnetwork.com to find a local retailer who can provide a HD receiver, or call 1-800-333-dish.

With the free receiver promotional offer, you usually have to subscribe to a year of HD programming to get the receiver at no cost. Or, you can buy the receiver and get whatever programming you want. If you are in a decent area (not a valley), and have a suitable antenna (check antennaweb.org), then you can receive OTA HD channels via the Dish receiver.
