FIrst of all get to the drugstore and get some BENADRYL. It's an antihistamine and he needs it prompto. Without it, he could go into anaphylactic shock if it gets really bad.

If it's all over his body I'd get him to the ER for something stronger.

You need a corticosteroid cream (has to have cortisone in it) to relieve the itch. You can try Polysporin anti-itch lotion...that worked for my son on his band-aid allergy but the cortisone cream is what helps most.

Get the Benadryl into him though and you will visibly see the hives go down within the hour...give him the strongest dose right off the bat.

If he has any trouble breathing or swallowing get to the ER immediately. People have died from allergic reactions.

It might be a good idea to have him tested for allergies after this. If he has one, chances are he has others and it's best you know what he's allergice too in case it's something like peanuts which could be life threatening.

Then what you do is just avoid the things he's allergic to...ie dust, mold, trees, grass, ragweed, fur, etc.

Use calamine lotion to relieve the itch.
Other astringents that may help hives include witch hazel (especially chilled) and zinc oxide
By dabbing milk of magnesia on the lesions, provides some relief.
To stop the itching get 1/2 a tub filled with warm water, add 1/2 cup cornstarch and 1/2 cup baking soda. Soaking yourself at least once a day can make a lot of difference.

Herbal manuals often list a poultice of the crushed leaves of chickweed as a remedy for itchy skin. Some people make a paste of water and cream of tartar and apply it to the hives, replacing it when the paste dries and gets crumbly.

Itching can be caused by insect bites like mosquito bites, heat rashes or allergic reactions. Aloe vera gel , apple cider vinegar or vitamin E oil can be effectively used on the affected skin.

Benadryl to treat from the inside out or any antihistamine should help. For the physical pain, try an oatmeal bath. Aveeno makes a great product.

I would give him Benadryl capsules and then use benadryl cream on his body.

When my daughter had a similar reaction, I took her to the emergency room and they gave her a shot.

I think you better take him pretty quick or at least call the doctor.

Give him a Benadryl tablet. Get the topical Benadryl as well to apply directly. If you see any indication of them getting worse or him having labored breathing, get to the hospital immediately.
