Well, it does depend on their age and the weather where you are. Sorry to say that if you're in a colder climate this may not be the best time to start training them as what you have to do is gradually get them used to using the cat litter outside, i.e. move it to the door to start, then move it outside the door and eventually they'll work it out for themselves. Good luck!

You start by leaving the door open and putting the litter tray outside so they get used to going out then you instead of using litter in the tray you put dirt.

How old are your kittens?

Kittens look towards their parent or you as the alpha cat for reassurance if they are a bit unsure. Give them lots of reassurance and dont show your displeasure if they get it wrong.

when i trained my last kitten, i put some of the litter in the edge of my garden ( where it is not in any`s one way and easy for the cat to bury his mess after) then i ran the kittens paws over the litter and soil, you may have to do this a couple of times, but its worth it as your house does not smell. Just to be on the safe side i have kept the litter tray but with no litter in it, this way they will only use it if they are desperate and i am out. They prefer going outside even if it is cold out there, their independent animals, not babies!

put the litter tray as near the front door as you can & show the kittens the new place for it. They gradually stop using it themselves, at first mine used to come in from outside to use the litter tray but now they don't use it at all. Hope this helps

Mix the dirty litter into the soil where you want the kittens to go. Kittens normally go to the toilert after sleeping, and usually just after eating.

Also, move the tray slightly closer to the outside every day, and then put it outside the door with easy access. you will find they will start going to the door when they want to go. Once your kittens are used to the outdoors, it will be much easier to get them to use the soil.

Move the litter tray to near the back door and then gradually move it outside then eventually you will be able to take it away once they are used to going out there.

You should actually not try to get them to go outside. Domestic cats have no physical requirement for being outdoor animals. In fact, there are so many "bad" things that can and will hurt your cat if they are left to roam outside.

There are the obvious threats (birds of prey, other animals, cars, yukky people), but there are many health problem that can arrise from cats being outside.

Instead, place several litter boxes around the house in good areas and see which one your cat prefers...then remove the others and you're set to go.

Your cat will live a longer and healthier life if you don't let it outside.

put the litter outside on the ground then slowly start getting rid of the litter and sooner or later the kittens will love the outside

why did you get kittens if you aren't prepared to care for them properly? Kittens need a litter tray. Adult cats need a litter tray for when they are indoors at night. You cannot just chuck kittens outside all by themselves to toilet. That is irresponsible. Perhaps you could rehome them to someone who is prepared to care for them properly?
