It is very much a personal choice.

There are folks who would donate their "spare" income;
there are others who donate, to get below an income bracket and save on taxes;
yet, there are others who donate, because they derive inner satisfaction out of donating.

You have to determine what is it that drives you to donate?

I believe that anything that you do to sufficiently make you identify with the cause that you want to take part in (not in terms of their giving you a special identity), through which you can become a part of the community or organization that you really like to donate your effort or money into is the minimum that you want to donate.

As for the upper limit - $200,000 plus your savings and lots of efforts - especially if you already have enough to last you for your generation and more!

When you see a man that has no shoes, offer to help. If there is a family who needs milk, go and buy them $100.00 worth of food. If you see a young Mother who needs diapers for her precious baby, go and purchase warm clothes and enough diapers to last her a year. If you see an elderly , poor looking man, who can barely walk, go and purchase him a power chair. So in other words, use the wisdom inside you to know when to help. Give to the 211 program and the money will be used and divided to the needy families. Calling 211 and they will tell you where your wonderful donations will go. Donate to the Local Police station and Sheriff's Office and they use the money to give beautiful Food Baskets to the needy . Go purchase a truck load of frozen turkeys and give to the needy, outside of the Salvation Army. There are many ways you can help. I could go on and on. Good Question.

you be the judge. donate what you feel like donating. this is the definition of "donate" -- and if it "nameless" it is even better. the figure of 200,000 might seem a lot -- but if you are the president of a family corporation and you are feeding a whole family structure...it does not go all the way to the sky. thus, donate to various causes and you will be appreciated. thanks for asking.
ps. 200,000 is this after tax or before tax. what you give to the tax man is not donation it is compulsory "giving". hope we understand.

It doesn't matter how much you make; donating isn't like a tip, where there's a certain amount you have to donate for it to be worthy. The Bible says ten percent of your income should go to the church, which is called a tithe, but as far as charity I don't think there's any set amount, nor should there be. If you're obligated to do it, it isn't charity.

I think everyone should donate as much as they can. I figure that if you could live comfortably off $100,000 while puting some money away for the future, then there's no reason to not donate $100,000. On the other hand, if it takes $150,000 to make you happy, the figure would be $50,000. I don't understand the percentage thing. If a person does very little to earn $500,000 per year, does he really need $450000 to live off of? why? Give as much as you can.

10% of your gross income or whatever you feel you can truly afford. It is much easier to do if you do it every payday. Every payday take the percentage and give it to a worthy charity.

I also never spend loose change. You would be surprised at how this adds up into a thousand or two in a year. At the end of the year, cash it in and, rather than an extra holiday for yourself - you get the idea.

Iam following as per islamic
2.5 % each year from the savings (excess other than your regular expenditure)

if is not necessary to follow nor i am forcing to do according to islamic law, you may donate even 5-10 % of your savings,

rest all depends how you evaluate the donations, there is various methods, my first is taking care of orphan, second- food to the poverty

even you can make a habit of regularly sending each month to the needy people, this may reduce you burdens of allocating donation accordingly

Honestly, you most likely need a budget for how much you will donate per year, month or whatever. But really you can never give to much to people who really need it. If you asked someone that was in a desperate need of money if they wanted $300 or $1,000, what do you think they would choose?

Any amount that you feel it is right for you. It is your money and no one can dictate how you spend your money. Make sure you do the right places and your money well spent. Good luck
( I live on 1 income and I donated 2800 dollars a year for 25 years already )

Donate as much or little as you want. Money is the cheap way out. What you really should do is Donate your Time.
