I hear this premise often-- that life is so perfect/complex/beautiful, that God must be real....
Is this a sound argument?
If you believe it is, why do you think others do not?

When I look around the world I see purpose. I see order. And my I say, I see "design". It's not really that I believe in one particular faith, but I have a hard time thinking that all of this wasn't orchestrated somehow. That is why I believe in some higher power. I'm not sure that the higher power cares about us or requires things from us. But I have a hard time not believing.

Some believe that the universe is so complex that it could not possibly be random. The philosophers phrase it as, "You do not find a watch in nature. There must be a watchmaker, even if you have never met the watch maker. Therefore, there must also be a universe-maker."

I do not find this a compelling argument. The universe *could* simply be random. We do not have proof. I am also a Christian, and I believe God exists and is real, but it's not the structure of the Universe that *proves* it.

Of course it is not a sound argument. It is so arrogant to say, "I do not understand therefore there is a God". The people who say this are judging the intellectual abilities of all men, those that are, have been and will be. I see no reason why, as a species, we should not eventually come to understand how it all works. I would put my faith in the abilities of my fellow men to find the ultimate answer rather than throw my arms up and say "I give in, God must have done it".

I think first you have to believe in God to think that way. If you do not believe, then of course you do not see it as proof. There is not one element alone that offers proof, I think. And there will always be a way to justify or "prove" that God does not or does exist, if you ask all of the right people and get all of the right answers. For me, God is the Beginning, the End, and the Middle. There is no creation without God, no existence. Largely, what I've read in science proves a God-creator exists.

Life is not proof of God but we like to know there is a beginning at some point in time... Although technically there is no such thing as time its just something we made up to remain organized. Back to the point if life is so perfect why do we have wars and dictators that treat people harshly. I know free will but why give people the ability to that. Also how there are so many mentally challenged people (why'd you have to be so mean to G.W. Bush God?)

There is a law called the Law of Biogenesis which states that life can only come from other lifeforms. Abiogenesis, or as it was called back in the day "spontaneous generation" is life coming from non-life, which was disproved by Louis Pasteur in the 19th century, and yet the evolutionists hold on to it as the origin of life on earth.
Abiogenesis is a medieval idea that those living in the dark ages believed and what people believed until the 19th century. In other words, life coming from non-life is an ignorant superstition.

As far as logic is concerned, that is an illogical statement.

Abbott & Costello had an old routine that was printed in my logic book. It went something like this:

Abbott: Lou, I'll bet you $50 that you're not here.
Costello: $50? I'll take that bet.

A: Are you in Chicago?
C: You know I'm not in Chicago.

A: Are you in New York?
C: You know I'm not in New York.

A: Are you in San Francisco?
C: You know I'm not in San Francisco.

A: So you're not in Chicago, not in New York, and not in San Francisco right?
C: Right.

A: So that would mean that you were somewhere else.
C: OK.

A: So if you're somewhere else, you can't be here. $50 please.
C: Here's your $50.

Life being any number of things does not equal that there is a God. An autographed picture...now that would be proof.

It is a definite fact that there is a God. What we don't know is if we are the most important thing on his or her mind. And if we aren't then so what. Others don't believe there is a God because they couldn't find a date in high school or something like that. I mean I couldn't either, but that's besides the point. Here is something even deeper. Extremely good virtual reality is the same thing as reality. God exists because I said so! Nuff said. lol

No it is not a sound argument. Life is NOT perfect and not always beautiful.

The bible is a work of fiction that is ancient and proves nothing of a "living God."

No, this is not a sound argument, since we know natural methods through which life can come about. If there's a perfectly reasonable natural explanation, why turn to the supernatural if you can't even show that it might exist?
