I have found that you can talk more subjectively about a religion that is not your own But it would be easier to write about soemthing you are familiar w. Are you in a christian based class, b/c I know that when I talk to a friend that is not of my religion and try to bring up facts that I have found about her beliefs, it is as though she does not really understand her religion @ all. So If you have a prof that is not the same as yours he could think the same thing.

I did a report on Budhisim. It was easy, becaues the entire point of Buddhism is basically "Roll with it."

MUCH more difficult to practice though :P

Christianity and Islam are extremely complex. Even the FOLLOWERS can't agree on what they mean. Add to that the history behind the bible and koran, the complexities, the hypocracies, etc....its a lot of work.

I did a 10 page report on Christianity and barely scratched the surface. If you have any questions and would like non-biased answers, feel free to ask.

I'd say go with the ones you're more familiar with, especially since the majority of other people are familiar with Christianity. I would rather read about Hinduism and Buddhism since I don't know that much about it. Since you know them, then you're more qualified to write about them. Plus, writing about what you know is way easier than writing about what you don't know.

I think you've got your answer. If you only have to write on two, choose those you're most familiar with. Ask yourself how the language of those religions has entered common language. How have their places of worship affected local architecture (in London, no new buildings are allowed to obscure certain views of St Paul's Cathedral - but then, it is a beautiful building). Ask how education has been shaped around the religions. Think about how art reflects their interests. You'll be fine.
